Couldn't help but snicker at that.

I'm loving my two vinyl girls so far. Wish I had more time to spend with them. The only resins I've worked with were for 25mm-32mm scale miniatures and I'm not sure how different the resin used there compares to resin used for dolliehs, but other then the superfine detail resin is far too fragile in my mind for a doll I'd do anything other then put on a shelf. I also haven't run into any resin sculpts I like enough to justify the price over just buying another Obitsu (or 3).

From what I've read, I just feel the resin is too fussy for me and since I don't do very much photography, the posing abilities aren't an issue for me. I really just want to sew for them. However, even a vinyl shouldn't be stained. My girls have acquired some light staining from black tights on their feet mostly, but it's not a big issue for me since it's my fault. I haven't really tried to fix them yet either. (One of these days I really do need to order some of that cleaner.)

If I paid full price for something, and it came stained, I'd be sending it back, unless I wanted it badly enough to accept it or ask for a partial refund.

I adore my Ell's and 'Alone on Sunday' is gorgeous! I hope you can bond with her.

I fully agree with you. I also have all vinyl dolls, both because of price (especially) and ease of handling. Resin is, as you say, too fussy for me :) I have fully articulated vinyl dolls if I want to pose them for my photography. I mainly knit for my dolls and if I do sew, I make sure it's usually cotton, which I've had no staining problems with. The only 'staining' I've had was from a pair of shoes on one of my girls. Marks, like it was too tight for her, were on her feet when I changed her outfit. It didn't feel tight, so I'm not sure what happened
One question: Are Obitsu dolls vinyl BJD's?

Yep! One other difference is that they aren't strung, but held together by an advanced skeleton :)

Obitsu can be gotten in both plastic and vinyl as far as I'm aware, though which material seems to be particular to which size doll you're looking for, I don't have any of the smaller ones but they appear to be plastic with vinyl heads, while the larger dolls (I have a pair of 50s) are vinyl with plastic skeletons.

Vinyl, ABS and resin are all plastics, to add to the confusion ;). When you say plastic, I think you mean ABS plastic.

Too true, too true, I was thinking ABS, though in hindsight, the hard skeleton could also be vinyl (like PVC piping), >.> stupid plastics. Who would've thought we needed chemistry degrees to talk about our dolliehs? :p

Don't worry Evelien. To me plastic is plastic and resin is something else  I have Vinyl and now that I've thought about it, I also have plastic. Definitely no resin. But while that matters to some, I buy my dolls because they are beautiful and have gorgeous hair. And because they 'grab' me. (If that makes sense). The hair is a big thing for me. If I see a doll with bad hair, as far as Im concerned, that is not a dollieh that is well taken care of. :| I was interested to see that some people don't bond with their dolls. I've never had that, but I do have a friend who has experienced that. My dolliehs all have their own stories too. My youngest (not because I bought her last, but simply because that's what came to me), Aqua, was once a mermaid in Atlantica. She knows of King Triton and Ariel, but obviously has never met them. Apparently all mermaids get to choose, once they reach a certain age, if they want to stay in Atlantica or become 'human'. She chose to become 'human' when we met her one day out at sea... And so they all have their own tales to tell....
