Help! Tryng to identify childhood 18" doll

Postby SillyLilPuppet » Sat Oct 12, 2013 10:30 pm

Ok so I'm trying to find a doll I had as a kid. She was like a slightly older, nicer quality version of American Girl dolls. My grandparents got her for me back when grandpa was still alive and they had decent money, so I'd guess her to be a higher end doll. She had a very nice outfit and fit some of my AG doll stuff but was a little big for most of their things.

What I remember about her:
Slightly larger than American Girl
Came from a catalog
Mid to late 90s
Soft torso made of slightly fuzzy fabric
Head was attached to exposed shoulder plate, like a porcelain doll
Head and limbs made of hard slightly textured plastic, felt like porcelain
Stationary non blinking eyes
Hands in "ballerina" like pose, slightly bent at wrist and open palmed
Mine had red hair and green eyes, but it was customizable, like My Twinn
Dress was purple floral, had battenburg lace, similar pattern to a Daisy Kingdom dress, and very nicely made
Dark purple mary janes and lacy socks, also very nice
Face was very pretty and like a porcelain doll, not as round as AG doll and a little sad looking

Already dredged through Ebay and while I couldn't find her, I found a lot of things she definitely is NOT:
American Girl
My Twinn
Our Generation
Magc Attic
Adora
Gotz
Madame Alexander
Carpatina

Ok, try Vogue dolls. There were catalog dolls that sound like they could be your girl.

Like this girl?

That is deeeefinitely not my girl. By porcelain doll like I meant a modern one, not an antique. Facially she was like a softer, more subdued and neutral Magic Attic type face, maybe a bit more realistically proportioned. I'm guessing this girl to have been sold around 1997-2000 as I got her after getting an American Girl in 96 but also remember having them both share a special AG new years outfit for the new millenium.

The Global Friends doll is the closest, but the smile is way too big and the hands are wrong. Maybe she might be by that company though as the name Storybook Heirlooms sounds very familiar? I'm pretty sure her tag said Heirloom on it now so thank you for the possible hint!!
