i don't think you have to worry too much. it was more the sanding to make a hook-groove that screwed me over i think.
anywho, here ya go.

Great video for a tutorial, now I thinking to place a metal washer too after placing silicone washer, since I feel metal will be more stronger than silicone/rubber alone.
But I have to wait for the body to arrive since I don't know how big the S hook is, which is going to be around November- December :?

glad it helped :)

i think as long as you stick to buying a washer in the 1/2 - 3/4" ballpark you should be safe. but really it's usually less than 50cents per washer. i bought 6 or 7 for less than 2.50$ to experiment with and only the one was wayy to big.

Yes, metal washer can be easily found in lot of size and quite cheap in store around me, but the silicone/rubber one is quite rare...
Maybe it's okay to use metal alone but just to be in a safe case, I want silicone too and I heard that it can be used for sueding around the joint part.

Yeah, the internal skeleton of the vinyl dolls requires a particular peg that holds the head on. They're crazy light weight and don't really use any tension. The head just pops on the peg and you're done.

The resin dolls are strung with elastic. They're held together with tension. LOTS of tension! ha. I use needle nose pliers and excessive force to restring my dolls. It's not easy. The S-hook holds all of the doll's elastic, it's the key piece that holds the entire doll together, and keeps the head on. That kind of tension on a vinyl doll wouldn't work without the above pictured modification. You need the strong metal washer to protect the soft vinyl from basically being destroyed. I imagine it would just pinch the vinyl and cause it to rip. I'm actually surprised that the washers work, but maybe my dolls are strung too tightly.

the rubber ones will either be with the metal ones, or over in the plumbing section. silicone probably not, but if you're using it inside the head black rubber will work fine.

i think it's just because it evens the pressure of the elastic over a wider area.

And I think metal can hold the tension better than vinyl alone, so using it is quite a great idea :)

By the way, will the black rubber washer stain the vinyl head? I'm afraid of using black because lot of staining case, although it was inside the head and no one will ever knew the staining :P

Can anyone tell me the mirodoll girl body height? I hear that MIrodoll head is quite bigger than other so maybe if I hybrid with obitsu head, maybe it was not 60cm anymore. Just wondering.....

to the first, i actually don't know! i didn't even think of that, and i can assume it might stain as they rub together. mine's so beat up it doesn't matter. from googling about it looks like white nylon washers also exist but i wouldn't know where to look for 'em.

for the measurements, from foot-to-shoulder is about 48cm, and with the Gretel head she's about 58cm tall, ish.

Well as long as it is exist, I will try to search it, even if I have to go to a lot hardware store
Thank you for the measurement, I guess my doll will also around 58cm too

Is there anyone who try dollfie dream clothes on Mirodoll body, especially the small chest one? Is the measurement is perfect or too bigger/smaller?

You could always use something like Plasti-dip for the washer as a coating. That brand comes both as liquid in a can or spray can. Coats stuff in rubber. ^_^ Used to re-coat plier handles, so should be able to stand up to use for a washer in a doll head.

Or any other nefarious deed you might think of. O_o
