The only times I've thought of asking have been instances when someone's posted here and put a link to there instead of reposting whatever was in the post, thus making it impossible for me to read the whole thing, like when someone was showing off this nifty argyle sock sweater they'd made for a Freyr and the tutorial was a link I couldn't access.

Other than those instances, I really don't have a great deal of interest in a board that. from what I've heard, comes off as a bit elitist and snobby (I've seen where part of the signup asks you what your favorite board acceptable only doll is, and I'm pretty much a vinyl-and-abs-only person here. I don't even really look too hard at the expensive resin dolls, and wouldn't even know what to answer!)

So I'm not really sorry to see the signups go, even though it'll mean I've missed my chance next time someone posts a tutorial or something that sounds interesting but is just a link. Then again, maybe this will put an end to that.

I'd still like to know how to make that sweater.

The thing is, you are an active, participating member here. You've racked up over 200 posts that aren't just "What a cute doll" or similar inane comments that most newbies do just to raise their post count so they can get into the sales posts. If you asked someone around here for an invite, I'm pretty sure they would send you one. And I'm not saying no one can ever issue an invite because that is always an individual decision. If a legit member asks for an invite that's one thing - someone who comes here just to get one, is another entirely. I'm sure I will happily give invitations out in the future - but only to REAL members here :)

Gosh, that's such a terrible thing to do. I've only received a few requests so I didn't realize it was such a big deal, but I think it's a good idea to stop giving out invites. Or the next time you set invites up, raise the post count to some ridiculous number so that no spammer will ever get past.

I actually signed up here after I got my DoA membership because this forum is so much more relaxed and diverse.
I don't post much because I don't have too many dolls to talk about, but I really do like the forum and I check it every day. But I don't really dislike DoA, the people I've met there were very friendly.

see i got into DOA during one of there open enrollments or something because i did not use an invite to get in there. and i joined this site on recommendation of a friend who was already here. and i like the smaller set up and its much easier to find what your looking for here. i have had moments on here were i have been aggravated by some of the posting rules and how much harder it seems to be to get people to open up and talk to you sometimes. but to use this great site just to get an invite to doa seems low and i cant believe it was such a problem. some people just seem to have no shame and i hate to see it in such a great hobby.

I admit..I kind of hemorrhaged invites over the past year. I see people wanting to get into BJD's but not really sure where to look so I (sorry guys) instantly think of DOA since it has a huge database and stuff and more info then DeviantART does...So I kind of just told someone if they were interested in getting a doll I was also interested in to check DOA out and I would send them an invite long as they sent me their email..Never really thought to pause and think about it. You had good intensions so it's okay. It's impossible to judge people on the internet so some of us have to take Jim Henson's approach that people are inherently good. Anyhow if you don't get with DOA's program and play by their strict and arbitrary rules you won't like it over there and come back to a place like this. Sometimes the best lessons are taught by letting the baby have their bottle and discovering the milk inside is sour on their own.

I think it's a good choice.

Den of Angels may be a great resource but Dollieh Sanctuary is a great community.
I browse Den of Angels every day but I don't post there any more - I do post here.
The Sanctuary is inclusive in all aspects of a doll customizing hobby but also has a section to connect with people on things that go beyond the dolls.

I got an invite from someone with a zero post count too. I agree, I wonder if the same person messaged everyone on the old list to get an invite. I was intending to send them a message politely declining until they became an active member, but ultimately, I didn't have time. And I agree with happyknot. DoA is an encyclopedia, with the exception of a few of the discussion threads, but this place is like an extended family. We may not all agree with one another, but we respect each other and get along, generally speaking.

To tell you the truth, I was once a newbie who also though about joining the DoA by getting an invitation from member in here. I decided to post an important question in this forum first then in DoA forum.
But now I have changed my mind. I really like being here and all the member is so friendly. Thank you everyone for trying to answer all my question that is sometime silly. I also heard so much nasty story about DoA but never DS. So glad that I'm joining this forum :D
I would like to have a member in DoA since it won't hurt to have different membership in dollieh communities and DoA's market place only can be access by member. But is really a loss to chose DoA instead of here. I never know how DoA works but I think I will stick here frequently than DoA
