HELP! My package is in the Netherlands?!

Postby Kd_Bunchanumbers » Thu Dec 05, 2013 10:58 am

Heya, I live in Australia and a friend in New York recently sent me a package of dolls via USPS with tracking, and today I saw this:

What should I do?? Is this normal procedure, especially during the christmas season, or should I be worrying?

Well, I don't know about USPS specifically, but it's not completely uncommon for international packages to be routed through other countries before reaching their destination country. Some shipping companies even have specific hubs that almost all of their overseas packages might track through, no matter where they might end up.
I would say don't panic quite yet. Maybe give it a couple of days to see if another update comes through.

I agree, here in the US they have regional hubs where everything goes through that location no matter what, especially if it's near an airport.

The only thing that would give me pause is that it says customs clearance. Otherwise as the others have said, routing through other countries is standard. I've just ordered something from Italy (I'm in the UK) - that went to France then to Germany before it came here - which is a bit of an odd route, really. Stuff I've ordered from Hong Kong often gets routed via the middle east.

I would wait and see. If it doesn't show up I would make a phone call to find out what happen.

Is it still missing? I could call the Dutch post office and ask for info if you want.

*Apparently* it's in Australia and says it's delivered, but I haven't seen any notifications from Auspost that a package has come for me yet and it's been about two days since it's said it's been delivered. I'm gonna call my local Post Office tomorrow when it opens cuz I really want my dolls.

I'm really quite annoyed at USPS to say the least.

Turns out the postman was a complete and utter douchebag who slapped a "return to sender" sticker on the box by claiming he *knew* I didn't live at my current house and it took several days of running around from local post office to local post office to find out where it ended and I managed to grab it before it left for America again. The post office worker kept trying to blame me or the sender for marking it wrong despite it matching the details I had on me and turns out the sender had sent it by express, despite taking over a month to get to me heh. I have no idea of the status of the postman who decided I didn't live at my house anymore but I'm pretty sure he hasn't gotten any repercussions for it.

But yeah I got my dolls.

Glad to hear! And I'm sorry it was such a hassle.
