The big scale ones with the eyehole heads and the Parabox bunch with the eyehole head. Correct me if I'm wrong. I get the idea that the keyword is eyehole head and wiggable.

And now you know why I stick to sculpt specific threads(spamming one of the new sculpt) and never really spam my dolls there even though only three qualify.

Mattel's canon is when a particular group is a stickler that Mattel figures must retain their official back stories and identities.* I only use that information to identify their sculpts (and as parts they may have played before coming here).

Studio 126 Oh wow, Mattel sounds a little like Disney in that regard, the whole "We'll decide how we feel about this, and only our opinion counts, oh, and also, get out." And that's ridiculous!! Half the fun of having Barbie dolls was creating their backstories!! Do you think all my Barbies were named "Barbie"? Heck naw. That's so silly, thank you for sharing this with me, it has me laughing and imagining Barbie as some actress stuck playing the same type of role over and over.

Seems that way. Though I do wonder what their take is if someone owns a Dollfie Dream or Obitsu with cutout eyes and managed to wig that doll.

DOA is good for doll info, owner pics and tutorials though. I managed to get into marketplace but hadn't bought a single thing.

It isn't so much that Mattel is limiting play (although I have heard of that happening, too), but some groups and forums are notorious for that take on the hobby. Even my Disney Princesses [heads] get new roles when they come here. I typically won't pick up a head, if it can't take on other roles when I need them to.

I favor action/adventure-type roles (plus some romance).

This point excatly.

I love various types of doll and I like customization and its important for me to have a doll that looks like the character I have in my head or selected picture.

Granted that I tend to make my dolls dress up as other characters because those are characters from well loved games or 'liking at the moment' media and I can't own every doll out there. So the most dominant character gets to be the doll's anchor personality and channel the other fellas when needed.

Side characters have tried to hijack the doll when they get channeled but so far only one practically unused game character had successfully stole a head and refuse to leave. Kula the little brat turned out to be rather hardworking in cosplay/channeling/stuntwork department though.

Some people are afraid to think outside of the box and fear the world will end. While my Disney Princesses have so far remained Disney Princesses everyone is free to be who they want to be. The guy who plays the villain Mozenrath is really a kid who works at a theme park and the other Disney dolls might end up that way too. Having never seen the Hercules movie the Megera doll is more like Mazeppa in Gypsy.

When you grow up with only a handful of dolls everyone learns to be flexible and play several roles. Especially if you only have one boy doll.
