What NON-doll items did you get/are getting for Christmas?

Postby MeltedCaramel » Tue Dec 31, 2013 10:05 pm

Well, we all have them. Hobbies other than dolliehs! So, what did everyone get that ISN'T dollieh related that they're in love with this year??

I treated myself to some gorgeous geodes, a bunch of books/doujinshis (hey, anime nerd, whatcha gonna do? ), and by far my favourite: A wicked 14'' long movie replica knife from the movie Mortal Kombat. (Kano's raptor knife on the slim chance there is any MK fans here!) It's used gently and without the original box but considering the newer replica knife costs a whopping $150 and has a very irritating giant logo right in the middle of the blade? Yeah, I can do without the box or the sheath. I'll just custom make a leather sheath for it. (I admire and collect weapons, yes. I do not scare the neighbours with them, I promise.)

So, what did everyone else get and/or treat themselves to that isn't related to dollieh land? :D

Our old LCD tv was experiencing burn-out in several places, so we got a new, bigger, LED Smart TV. Still don't have it hooked up yet, but I may get up the courage tomorrow. I'm a little afraid it may be smarter than I am. :D

Ahhhh, TVs! We finally just replaced our (15 year old ) TV with a 50'' plasma around a year and a half ago. I know how good it feels to get a new TV!!! (Haha, when we switched from regular quality to HD I was like a kid in a candy store. "Put on Avatar right now!!!") Wrangle that TV in kenaiqueen! Until it starts ordering you to make it vodka on the rocks and get it a hooker I think you're still top of the food chain!

I got the 2nd volume of Uraboku from my sister. Uraboku is my very favorite anime/manga, hehe, so I was super-happy :D My sister also got me the first volume of Are You Alice?, another manga I had been wanting to try for awhile. On top of that, my mother gave me the 2013 Mid-States Exclusive Breyer Horse, "Constellation", which was totally unexpected but definitely a pleasant surprise, as I had been wanting her for awhile <3

littlesamuraigirl Boy, ever since I got into doujinshi collecting heavily it seems I've been neglecting my actual MANGA series!!! You reminded me!! There's one I've been reading forever, "Banana Fish", a gritty boy's love comic that even the boys love (no joke! It's not your normal shounen-ai fare at ALL), and I have to get the last couple volumes, but I don't want to because I know what happens at the end and it just DEVASTATES me. I need to treat myself to a few one-off yaoi mangas or something, make myself feel a little better. XD

Oh wow, Breyer horses, I used to collect them!! <3 They're so detailed and gorgeous!! Awesome gifts!

I got an iPad, ostensibly (according to my parents) so I can have whatever I'm working on with me at all times. I'm pretty sure they got it for me because they both got one for Christmas last year and they think that they're in love with them. Besides that I got some nice Disney prints, the TARDiS teapot/infuser, and a book of gaslamp fantasy short stories

My treat to myself was a new camera. The yeti got me a small rigid heddle loom. The test weave I've done on it so far has turned into a doll scarf though

LEGOs! That was the one toy I really wanted for Christmas this year. I'm more willing to ask for $100 worth of LEGOs than Dolliehs. xD Some giftcards for gas/groceries. A Giftcard for Amazon which was used for Dollieh purchases. xD A Vacuum, yay! New boots and snow boots that actually fit (pretty excited about those). And the usual socks and underwear. Oh! And my grandpa made me a lovely wood box, I love boxes. ^_^
