What NON-doll items did you get/are getting for Christmas?

The place for those OT discussions that you just HAVE to share in a doll themed forum.

quidam Hehe, thanks for thinking of me. :) Actually the problem lies in the edit of your post. The knife is almost eight years old (the handle is busting!) and has been sharpened multiple times by my uncle, who definitely knows his way around a blade. It was a cheap, functional knife that served it's purpose, and I replaced it with just the same type. Cheap, functional, all I need is something that cuts and locks in place for safety (the balisong I bought is the newer kind that clicks into place instead of the traditional style where the user would flick a length of cord over the two hollow halves to secure the handle).

The knife edge is so thin it's actually starting to crumble a bit, thus rendering it nearly useless. It was really time for a new knife, this time I just treated myself to an extra one or two. ^_~

OH! Also, kenaiqueen, I know you don't ship Thor/Loki but have you seen the mistaken fanart poster they put out in China? I laughed until I couldn't breathe.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/0 ... 28126.html An article on it.

The mistaken poster on display:

It really makes you wonder what in the world they thought Thor and Loki get up to!!! I haven't seen a marketing gaffe this hilarious in a long time, and I imagine Chinese Thor/Loki fans had their mouths on the ground when they saw that. I know I would be stunned into speechlessness (okay I lied, you'd hear a screech like a dying owl followed by wheezy asthmatic laughter  ) though sadly that says more for the comics and action movie industry and the hetero-normative ideal they still push despite the occasional "stunt" with an older or lesser well known hero or heroine (and the abundant homoerotic subtext in various movies, intentional or not), but that's not a rant for this thread, this is a thread to laugh at perhaps the most unintentional ticket-seller that theatre will probably ever see.

I got Manga Studio, an album I've been pining after and used my collective Christmas monies to get a new guitar.

Aelia Tablets are always fun new toys!!! :D

arrowchild Manga Studio, have you tried it out yet? I've been eyeballing that software for years but don't know if it would serve my purpose. I also just bought a really rare folk album I've been pining after!! It's from a bunch of local women who sing acapella (sp? Am I spelling that wrong wtf?) and they have the most haunting, beautiful voices. :3 I've been after this for awhile.

What album did you snag?

Also, props for being able to play the guitar!!! Damn!!

I really like Manga Studio so far :) It kicks PS's butt when it comes to digital inking and the brushes are nice. I've got 5 and it comes with a lot of bells and whistles I'll probably never use, (a lot of 3D rendering stuffs-really cool! but I like to draw everything from 'scratch'). But it's been fun!

I got MCR's Black Parade. After all these years I still didn't actually have the physical album. I've been on an MCR kick lately so my hubby sprang for it-the liner art is GORGEOUS

And I'll be learning guitar-so excited!

Also, go book lovers! <3

Vetinari A steel boned corset.... uh...ouch?

quidam
My brother got me rose flavored Turkish delight. It was my first time enjoying it, and I now know why Edmund basically sold his soul to the White Witch for it!
<----I am ashamed to say I know absolutely nothing of what you speak of.

Ohhh, hon, I share the woes of what you so delicately call a "generous bust" and I know what a pain it is for clothing fitting. <_< I envy women with nice, medium sized busts. I always feel like I enter the room about five minutes after my chest. It's a genetic trait on my mother's side. We all have the same problem!!

First of all, you must see both Thor movies ("I can so do CPR!") so that you will know why Tom Hiddleston is a real live Disney Prince. Also look for the Loki clips from the San Diego Comicon. You must see Avengers to know why Loki is a "Puny god" and why Thor isn't a god in Captain America's eyes. (My husband saw The Avengers two times in the theater and we have watched it three times since we bought the DVD.)

A steel boned corset is remarkably comfortable and holds the "girls" up so beautifully, if you are generously endowed, that men walk into things because their heads spin around to get a third look. You feel taller and sleek and for once there is no strain on your shoulders or back. I plan to buy one for myself this year for Steampunk. (Triple D and proud of it! )

Edmund and Turkish Delight are from the book The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis the first book of The Chronicles of Narnia. I used to look for the path to Narnia in a wardrobe my grandmother had when I was a little girl. I never found it, but I always checked when we visited. We read the series to our son when he was growing up. I hope that someone finishes filming the whole series some day.

haha! So corsets are actually pretty practical then for big boobs. I tend to the "mosquito bite" end of the spectrum to quote one of my favourite films... ¬.¬ Eh does mean I can wander about comfortably without the evils of the bra cutting off circulation (Seriously even fitted properly those things are evil, all those straps)

Richila A real life Disney Prince eh? XD, I hear he's supposed to be like a super chill guy and that's part of the reason everybody loves him. Also, a "puny god"?? Lmfaoo!! I have the worst feeling my friend is going to convert me to this pairing, and the last thing I need is a new obsession Jesus H. Christ. "LOKI AND THOR MUST HAVE DOLLS OF THEM" I can hear it already damnit. My will is weakening, and that damn Chinese poster thing nearly broke me. XDD I have like a thread of self control left. It's already horrible enough I know that the cartoony Loki stripteasing Thor gif syncs up PERFECTLY with Tony Lucca (American "The Voice" contestant)'s version of Britney Spears "Hit me Baby (One More Time)". Seriously, if you don't believe me, here's the gif:

http://media.tumblr.com/d82d96627011aea ... qz4rgp.gif

Start playing it so it syncs up at around 0:36 with this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTKh5gsJwpQ (Damn he makes this song sound sexy, but that's unrelated.)

I discovered this completely by accident and busted out laughing. It's hypnotic and you can't stop watching it. XDDD

<----I would try it, especially for the "girls" (I too am hovering around your size, haven't done a proper measure in awhile but let's just say smallish watermelons and leave it at that XDDD), but I have lower back pain caused by a nerve being compressed on both sides so I'd be dying in it. But still, even in a regular bra I notice a couple double-triple takes, especially when my "comfortable" one is in the wash and I need to wear my mother's bras which are a size too small and hike my boobs up to my neck. XDDD

Eh, I think both Narnia and the movie that I enjoyed with similar(ish) themes, "The Golden Compass", are those "never to be spoken of again" non-sequels. <_<

Vetinari Be glad you're hovering around the "mosquito bite" area. Big boobs, at least for me, aren't all they're cracked up to be. Sure it's nice getting a glance or two but when you feel like you're carting around bowling balls in grocery bags on your chest it's not so fun. XDD. And they're good up to a point. When women start fainting, that's when it's time to loosen the ties baby.

http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/med ... /88058.jpg <---Don't be like Guiness World Record lady here. (WHERE ARE YOUR ORGANS!?!?)

Also, since I've been sick, I've been playing the "I don't give a flying fuck anymore" game and going about braless. XDD No evil straps baby!!!

I've taken to wearing unwired sports bras - no wires digging in (every underwired bra has had this problem, even the ones I've been properly measured and fitted for), no thin (by comparison) straps digging in, designed to stop the sodding things bouncing all over the place when you move. OK, so there isn't much choice at the GG-HH end of the range, but I don't need much choice - one style that's comfortable is fine. I'd get the things removed if it didn't cost so much!

Meltedcaramel: re your knife - yeah - that does sound far too far gone to repair! And I can hardly criticise anyone for buying a new knife just because they want one (quickly hides knives ;) )
