What NON-doll items did you get/are getting for Christmas?

The place for those OT discussions that you just HAVE to share in a doll themed forum.

Okami Kodomo First off, that Caliburn is GORGEOUSLY customized. I know all about our "toys" not showing up that great in photographs (XD) but honestly I can imagine what it must look like in person. Especially with the gold leaf, that stuff shines so gorgeously when applied!!

Is your katana a replica or does it have an edge to it? I'm getting a katana (I found the MK replica one I wanted cheap and jumped) but it's going to need to be professionally sharpened. I also caved and bought the replica hook swords Kabal uses in Mortal Kombat, but they're decorative as I'm pretty sure I won't find anyone to sharpen these babies for me  :

Image

The only reason Kano's replica knife is sharpened (and wickedly too dayumm) is because there is "two" replicas, and I bought the one put out in the early 90's done specifically by a master knife designer. The newer one is more like the ones we're mostly talking about: expensive props until someone puts an edge to them. *Sighs* I need to find myself a reputable sharpener now.

Of my very meager collection, it's also the only one that has tasted blood. My ex boyfriend and the friend that gave it to me were sparring in the yard and my ex accidentally stabbed our friend in the arm. Blade went three and a half inches into his forearm, and required stitches (funny story; when we got to the hospital, the cops were called because it was a stab wound, and the officer asked if it was a result of domestic violence... our friend is very flamboyantly gay... and he says "Officer, even if it was, I wouldn't press charges. He's too pretty to go to jail." The cop gave up and left)
<-----Oh my God, your friend is awesome. I admit, I do stuff like that all of the time. I have some "screw with authority" gene or something. Needless to say when the post office guy asked if I had anything in the box that was "illegal, breakable, could injure or hurt someone, was drugs, or a bomb" and I told him "All of the above" he wasn't impressed. He didn't even crack a smile, the curmudgeon. XDD (I should have told him it was a naked little boy doll, which it was, and THEN got his reaction. Pfffft. Customizing to non-customizers is just about the creepiest hobby ever.)

Also, if I EVER thought you would sell that knife I would make an offer on it. Seriously, wolf knives? GIMME GIMME. I already have a hard enough time finding the kind that aren't your stereotypical "rwaarrr I'm a biker look at my snarling wolf slobber knife" artwork, and that is just....uwaahhhh gorgeous!!!! ;________;

K2:
100 ft. of 12 AWG 4C CL3R rated architectural speaker cable, 12 pairs of 24k gold plated deadbolt banana plugs, and an SAE 2800 parameteric equalizer.
Sexy.
<----Stop it, you don't want to get the board into a climactic frenzy now.

Alopecia No Hime:
Gift card for Amazon.com (bought two volumes of Sherlock Bones), 50 dollars in cash, 75 dollar check (which is now paying for a Netflix subscription for the next nine months) teen body manual (which the gifter promptly showed EVERYONE the sex chapter...Yes...=A=;; ) Corpse Bride (YAY) some books, new pajama's a sketch book.
<---Ahhh, Amazon.com. :D I still gotta figure out what to do with my "fiddy" as I've jokingly been calling my fifty dollar gift card. Still don't have a Netflix, I gotta fling myself into the current times gradually. Loved the movie "The Corpse Bride" and okay....the teen body manual thing...who gave you that and WHY the hell didn't you give them a good old fashioned SMACK when they promptly showed everyone the damn thing!?!? Oh my GOD, I don't think a family member could do that with me and survive with all of their skin intact.

After you killed your relative for public humiliation you could have curled up in your new pajamas and sketched. XDD

Warhammer pieces, two packs of procreate epoxy putty, leg-warmers, marzipan, and Diablo iii, and a few other odds and ends for me. The best thing though was that my brother liked the plush I made for him, Kamui from arcana heart. He says now I have to make him all the characters, haha; I don't think that's happening.

It was my late cousin's wife, technically my cousin-in-law. She always gets me embarrassing things like that, even if it's not funny. She also gave my mom Twilight dolls...My mom's not a doll collector. I was utterly mortified, I'm nearly eighteen and only recently was I not giving any lip for laughing not MAKING a That's What She Said joke. It was like a gag gift only worse...=A= And the people she showed it to were my cousin who has a fiance' and of course HER fiance...And of course she couldn't keep her voice down she was LOUD about it...Unfortunately I couldn't kill her, she's pregnant and she's lacked a self censor that she's passed down to her daughter who makes rude claims too.

It's matted back down a little because of the glass paint, but I want to re-do it with real gold leaf flakes. It's not as shiny as it could be. But I do love how it came out.

Oh my is it ever sharp. And it has a zig-zag pattern along the blade that was made with etching fluid.

~laughs~ No, that lovely is not ever going to be for sale. Tis my athame. The design was fairly simple to do, though. It's just a basic black tactical knife with a tanto-style blade and one of those baked-on black matte coatings, so if you have something with that sort of stuff, I could probably do something similar or a custom design. I just won't replicate the exact look. :) PM me if you're interested.

I used to have a Buck Adrenaline in the chrome silver. I loved that knife. It was lost when my ex got his car impounded with a bunch of stuff in it, and I think my knife was one of the casualties. Then I had a replica I bought at an Ace Hardware store in New York when I went to visit my mom, and it was stolen by one of the ex's pothead/druggy/lowlife moocher buddies that he would frequently allow to couch-surf in our living room. (His habit of doing that was one of the reasons I left him)

yarwel Any chance we could see the plush you made??? :D I used to make plushies for my younger sister before my back gave out on me, so I adore plushies made for family. <333

Hrrmnn, never heard of "procreate apoxie putty"...is that a specific brand, or is it like the kind I got where it dries hard as a rock within four hours once you mix the two components?

Alopecia No Hime She gave your mom Twilight dolls!? Errr.......okay, I won't get into the relative (non) entertainment value, but those dolls are just about the creepiest thing to give a non-collector EVER. Does she do it on purpose? Like..embarrass you to be mean, or is she just one of those people that think she's totally funny and damnit, everyone else better think so too!

OkamiKodomo Hey there, on Caliburn, have you thought about those bags of "mixed metal" leafs? It's not just gold but bronze and silvery metal flakes in there, that might make a neat look on the hilt. Wish I could explain what it looks like better, but I'm too familiar with mine as "that bag in the craft closet".

I'll PM you with more questions about your knife. ;)

<----Ughhhhh, seriously? I would have hunted that SOB down and if I could make it through the pot smog to get at him I'd politely ask for my knife back while very civilly demonstrating the rest of my collection to him. XD

Hah, my mother was like "Remind me to travel with you from now on" when I pulled my pocket knife out of my purse.

Darn, next step is (shelling out more money) finding a professional to get all the non-sharpened blades down to a nice, workable level. (Some of them are so thick that it's simply going to take a professional to work a nice, even blade into the metal.)

You'd be shocked at what she gets away with. She literally thinks that it's perfectly appropriate and amusing. She's not a very good example for her disabled daughter either..She's taught her, her bad manners (the girl wouldn't stop claiming I smelled bad and thinking it was hilarious when I told her how rude that was, even though our two younger cousins agreed with me and that it was a lie) and her lack of a self censor. She's so damn loud too, this woman was always doing stuff like this ever since I was little. She even gave me clothes that were far too tiny for me and then acted all offended when my mom told her I couldn't wear the outfits. She even a couple of times held up the clothes to me and told my mom: "I don't know what your talking about these'll fit." when an outfit she bought me was two sizes too small...And what's worse those Twilight dolls were USED and I'm pretty sure that teen body manual was too. She doesn't see me often but she knows I'm seventeen..It's either because she thinks she's hilarious or because she thinks it's perfectly appropriate to do something inappropriate because she's pregnant and therefor no one will punch 'er in the gut...I honestly don't like her much because she makes everyone uncomfortable.

She said infront of my eleven year old cousin: "He doesn't look like his dad, he looks more like (insert my eldest biological cousin's name here)" Me and my other cousin Natalia's fiance had to tell her that the lighting was only making him look paler..And she thought it was funny. It wasn't, it was mean spirited and she purposely waited until Tiana (my cousin's mom) and her husband were in the kitchen with my mother and aunt to say it. And she was smirking the entire time. She is seriously lucky I'm not the type of person to go violent on someone unprovoked. I am fiercely protective of my eleven year old cousin and his five year old little sister, I would kill if it meant they were okay. Saying those things infront of him? She's lucky I didn't bitch slap her all the way to the moon!
