Oh, I wasn't questioning the practice of a real person checking out my information. That's just good moderation as far as I'm concerned. I just mean that I felt not writing out the full doll name makes me look like an amateur, and to be honest, as far as resin BJDs go...I am. There are only a few that have really and truly caught my eye as in "I WANT TO BUY IT NOW". I don't know that I'd be that welcome on DoA even if I wanted to post. Also...checking out my username? I didn't use the same username as the one here, so I'm not sure what purpose that serves? (I swear to God I'm not trying to be a smartass, I'm honestly curious as to what purpose checking out usernames serves!! I would love a moderator to explain it to me, if they wouldn't mind. :) )

Anyone here ever sometimes sneak off topic doll pictures onto DOA?

Not that I do...

(I trust no one here will snitch on me)

I never have, but I've been seeing more of it recently. I've noticed a few places where people were using the excuse of showing off some feature of a doll and not the doll itself. The place I can think of off hand is the eye thread, but I know there's been quite a few places within the past few weeks.
Obviously you can have them in with photos of on topic dolls.

Alopecia no Hime No snitching here from me, trust me. Haha. I love it, work those ninja skills!! 8-) DOA is too rigid for its own good. Honestly. Let's just say I've found it good for information and...nothing else. Staying far away from discussion threads damnit.

XD I can't help but share my two cents on anything (I get it from my ma) so I've only been commenting on threads that pique my interest...But I did get the 'Do you judge 'cheaper' doll owners?' thread shut down...Not sure if I should be proud or ashamed but given I gave a known jerkwad on DOA what for and got pats on the back for it from other members.

Alopecia no Hime You get a pat on the back from me for that. So far I'm finding DoA to be kind of..unwelcoming, even in the supposed "newbieland" where you're not SUPPOSED to know much about the hobby. Also, just the NAME of that thread sounds like it must have been DRAMA CENTRAL, was it? Here I am without the $24 I need to buy my custom gal a proper wig and people regularly talk about $800 heads like it's nothing...I don't care what they spend on it, but since my dolls all fall in the "cheaper" spectrum....yeah, I can't help but think I'd be looked down upon. And customized fashion dolls would probably be little more than firewood kindling to most of them. :? Maybe I'm getting jaded.

XD; There's nice people there you just gotta know where to find 'em, I hang around in the crafting section, the MSD doll discussions and the tiny dolls discussion. No one's a jerk in the Homes for Tinies thread. But yeah in the infamous thread there was this jerk who kept looking me down for buying Resinsoul dolls and *GASP* Enjoying them saying basically I shouldn't have spent five hundred dollars on a laptop...But on a 'high quality doll' going as far as to suggest everyone bought hundred dollar wigs and eyeballs...I told her she was full of it. So yeah ninjaing my way around DOA.

There's also the Supernatural Doll Stories thread..Again jerk free zone because no one wants to invoke the wrath of Chuckie's possible reincarnation.

DoA has good things to offer. There's the marketplace, the thread feedback which offers good research and protection, there's a global reach when it comes to dealing with stolen dolls and recasters, the tutorials are awesome, and there are brand related threads.

I do enjoy brand threads. Those are quite nice! I like to keep tabs on the Granado thread of course, and I lurk the Mystic Kids threads, and the Resinsoul threads are just so much fun. Those are great cause we're all RS owners, we all love our cheap dolls, and brand-snobs don't venture therein. *hiss hiss* It's a win win! Though lately I've been very non-active. Lurky Lurkerstein, that's me.

As far as discussion threads go.... I don't care what people think about what I consider non-issues. And I consider MUCH in life a non-issue, actually. That's why I don't read ANY of the 'discussion' threads. They're awash with angst and unnecessary emotion over topics which in the larger scheme of things, don't matter one whit. I'm always so happy that DS doesn't have lots of 'discussion threads'. It's less for me to avoid. hahaha

Think about it. It boils down to someone you don't know posting a giant paragraph of what they think about some particular topic. And there's a disagreement to follow, naturally. Then there's the impassioned defense, the hurt feelings and wounded pride, the ensuing rebuttals, the ganging together in support of, then the dissenters, and it all sparks because people can be emotional, reactionary, and prideful creatures and it's SO easy to let one's better social graces slide when everything's in print. Hide behind your computers and user names, drama llamas. It goes round and round and round... to what end? Seriously, to what end? What difference does it really make? Will it enhance your life in some meaningful, personal way? Doubt it. Will it rile you up and stir about your emotions? More likely and people, when emotional and riled, do and say very stupid things.

Maybe I'm just getting too old and impatient but I don't care. Time is precious. I'd rather be doing something productive, meaningful, and enjoyable. Rather than wasting my life reading through a slag heap of paragraphs whining about *insert pointless opinion* I'd rather enjoy my preferred dolls, read about upcoming releases, and post things that are fun and happy. I'd rather lift people up with positive statements about their dolly spam on the brand-specific boards I do frequent than bitch at them for disagreeing with my all-mighty opinion. Anyway, that's what I think about what people think. LOL

ps. If you don't like muh dolilehs ur a poo head.

Alopecia no Hime I've been lurking and enjoying faceup tutorials. :) I just wish vinyl wasn't a sin punishable by death on there. Plenty of people who have commented on my threads seem very nice (though a couple seemed to need an attitude adjustment but I let it sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide  ) but when you're not a resin-sniffer, DOA can make you feel like you're adrift in a sea without a lifeboat. I think I'm pretty happy lurking there and asking the occasional question or posting a comment or two. :)

<---I completely agree with you, I'm just reduced to lurker status because of not owning any resin dolls. *Sigh*

Also..... Trethowan, I must admit I'm not sure what exactly you're considering a 'discussion thread'!! :? I mean, DS seems to have discussion threads by what I would consider the standard to be, but nobody gets out of hand or anything about it. Mostly discussion threads on DS seem to be a sort of a "fandom poll" or gathering information, i.e something like "Disney Store Dolls, Worth The Money Or Not?" could be asked here without the site imploding on itself, which I really, really enjoy and find it to be a feature that's sadly unique to DS. Drama Llamas, they be lurking everywherz.

Lmfao, I bow to your almighty opinion Trethowan. ;)
