Okay just a quick update everyone, I bought some ultrasuede, and it is indeed VERY soft and durable, but in my humble opinion, it looks a little more like calfskin than tanned leather. It's got an upside and a downside. It's definitely not very shiny/armour like, which is fine, I don't need my armour to shine like tinfoil, but I'd say its EXTREMELY matte (it feels and looks very smooth and buttery soft) as far as materials trying to mimic leather go. I have yet to try it out on a doll that needs armour, but right now I'd say this is better for materials requiring a calfskin look, like fake animal hide, or the oldschool armour that actually WAS made out of leather, etc. I'm thinking pleather might be the way to go for hardcore "Lets fake this metal armour using other materials" thing. I've studied other dolls of mine that have fake "metal" armour parts and it looks to be pleather material. Can't be sure until I pick up some, but I'm pretty confident that is what it fake armour is made out of.
