I think the two faceup artists I could recommend from personal experience might not be taking commissions at the moment..... There's arrowchild here on DS and Ban Sidhe on DOA. I'm not sure that arrowchild has started up her commissions since her move yet and Ban is recovering from pneumonia. They have quite different styles.

Check the Sell Your Skills section for examples of the work from some of the faceup artists here along with their specifications. If you have access to DOA there's a section there as well. The most important thing - even more so than style and skill IMHO - is that they have positive feedback and are reputable.

Ah, cool. I am confident with my art skills, but I have never attempted doll face ups and am afraid of screwing up, and the supplies needed I can't even get at Walmart. Not a fan of paints, because you can't erase mistakes and I don't wanna ruin a 50 plus dollar head. So, I'll go poking around. I think I'll stick around here. DoA is outta my reach. :)

I like Setsuna's faceups. She has done 5 different heads for me. Three were the same heads that I wanted differnt looks for, each got a different body.

Minus the hat and the watch and bracelet, the shirt color I want is blue. As for the shoes, uhm, I looked everywhere, and making my own is easy, but I would like to get similar shoes in the pic. You have NO idea how annoying it was to find a pic of this guy with his clothes on and not being molested by the other male lead character.... Not that I mind..... Uhm...... This isn't the place to be posting yaoi of non dolls. oh gods....

I hope I didn't offend. Stating what my interests are is quite touchy for me. I have very few friend supporters of same sex couples... Oh crap... *facepalms* Well anyway that's the idea of my dollie's outfit. ANd the tie, is quite unique in the fact that the dots aren't flat. I wanna say they are pearls cut in half, but not as expensive. Kotestu[guy in pics] can't afford real pearls.

Hey there again versora!! :D Sweetie, everyone is pretty open-minded here. That's what's so amazing about this hobby, gay and straight and bisexual...it really doesn't matter and no one is looked upon for their preferences in their own life or their dolliehs lives here. I'm an avid reader and writer of slash/yaoi/whatever you prefer to call it, both the Japanese "yaoi" genre and the Western "slash" genre. Actually your post reminded me that I need to watch this series!! A series that's yaoi-bait with modern superheroes!? Count me in!!

Now, for the more practical things, I'm not exactly the best person to be giving advice on 1/3 size dolls, but for stuff like his tie, I suggest 3mm pearl flat-back studs, like this:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/107309791/ ... ack-pearls (If you're looking for a little bit more of an exaggerated look, try 5mm of the same type of cabochons. As you can see these are really cheap and look great. Buy a plain 1/3 black tie and glue them by running them over a glue-loaded q-tip and put them in place with a pair of tweezers bought especially for the project as they will get glue on them! ^^; )

The scar mod! I personally would recommend our fellow boardmember and all around awesome faceup artist OkamiKodomo. Her faceup section is here: http://dolliehsanctuary.com/sanctuary/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4538 She makes amazing scar modifications and when you mentioned a scar mod her work popped right to the front of my mind! The best part is that they're removable if you ever feel you don't want the scar mod anymore.

As for the other clothes, I know Etsy has many seamstresses who will take on custom work. A few I found in a search:
https://www.etsy.com/people/Ospirit
https://www.etsy.com/people/RoomTwo
https://www.etsy.com/people/BJDCollection
None of them have the custom order option but I have found that simply asking someone can go a long way! <3 I hope that helps in some way versora!! :D

Thanks, MC. I plan on saving up my monies. I only had enough for the doll. All these ideas and recommendations are awesome and very helpful. And yes, you should watch this show, it's quite good. I love it as much as I do Hellsing [the OVA, not our crappy version which we messed up]. Such Yaoi bait. I LOVE yaoi and gay stuff in general. I have two gay god uncles, they are huggers and they pet mom and I like kitties. But anyway. Inside info on the show is the creator said the viewer can make up their own minds, whether it's a bromance between the main pair or a progression of something more. I have tons of yaoi doujinshi of Tiger and Bunny. :D

versora, no problem sweetie! :D Truth: Never saw either version of Hellsing so I can't really compare. Although.....oh my GOD, the creator is one of those awesome people who actually admit the subtext?? Creators have denied subtext for as long as subtext has been around. Back in the 70's the gaytastic Starsky And Hutch took a major hit creatively when people began to watch it for the extremely obvious subtext, referring to it as "that gay cop show", and the creators and actors got into fights because the actors were pretty vocal in support of the characters being interpreted as "in love", and it led to a horrible last season where the writers tried to break the cycle of subtext but ended up with The Gayest Ending Ever so most of it was forgiven XD. One of my favourite mangas "Count Cain" (kind of niche, basically preceded Black Butler and has many of the same themes, which Yana Toboso err..."borrowed(outright lifted)"?), there is just REAMS of subtext and then the mangaka, who was still worried about not getting sales by out and out appealing to yaoi fans pulled a "they weren't meant to be seen that way, I never meant anything by it!" thing that just...yeah, if you read the manga it's pretty laughable. At least yaoi isn't as taboo in Japan anymore. The creator of Naruto is obsessed with Sasuke and Naruto together. I don't really watch the show but I find his fanaticism funny and a great sign of progress.

Yeah, I'll totally talk yaoi with you if you're looking to unload. ;)

Ivan says this is a good thing, it thins out the competition for all the hot babes. /facepalm

I bought a vest through Alice's Collections a year ago. I think they offer several colors? At least they did at one point. I've not slept more than 3 hours in the past 10 or so... so someobody might have said that and i missed it. Ivan will crown my son the Diaper King.

Only if one assumes the 'gay' in the comment applies to only the male dolls ^.~

(I sadly have no advice for clothing, most of my hunting is for 50cm obitsu girls, and I've basically decided if I want something I'm going to have to make it myself or plan to do a lot of tailoring to get an existing to fit. But I guess I haven't really looked at commissioning someone.)
