Rage like FFFFFFFUUUUUUU--

Postby embyquinn » Sun Mar 02, 2014 10:06 am

So, I went to Wally World yesterday for the first time since before Christmas because of that happy, rare coincidence of (a) day off and (b) spare money to spend on dollieh stuff. I went mainly to see what new clothes were available (because Cherry only has 30947093481029384 outfits already), but I also took a look at the new dolls because, hey, although I consider myself to be at doll capacity, you never know, right?

The new Fashionistas are out.

And they're NOT ARTICULATED.

I hate backwards trends. I was hoping the Artibabs body was going to be more standard, or at least with the Fashionistas, but nooooo. The only artibabs I saw on the aisle were the Life In The Dreamhouse dolls.

Rage is a ragey thing.

I saw that and my mouth dropped. I felt all shades of sad, too~ T_T The articulated bodies were so awesome, now all gone! T___T

Yeah, it's incredibly annoying and I have no idea know why they did it. I'm just glad I never bought an unarticulated fashionista by accident. But! The Glam Luxe Style (or whatever they're called) dolls seem to be fully articulated, at least this review shows the torso joint: http://vansdolltreasures.blogspot.se/20 ... eview.html
Personally I like the clothes too, and Midge is adorable: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tru_fashio ... 611944636/

Thrift stores and yard sales then. I saw a SiS with great arms but hinge knees.

Tell Mattel how much you liked their articulated bodies and you won't be buying much if anything until they come back.

Isn't it disgusting?
The Barbie Style/Glam Luxe gals are indeed very nice- I bought the girl with the black jacket. Other than a twinge of annoyance at yet another clothing piece that looks nice in front but plain in back (shirt), I loved her. Pretty faceup, normalish head, and cute clothing. Her boots are TDF. She's the nice, heavy plastic of the Dreamhouse dolls, and does indeed have the underbust joint.

I don't *mind* hinged knees- not as pretty, but still better than nothing at all. Especially since SiS have undergone the same cheapening as Barbie and now have the same dismal 5 POA.

To be honest I was surprised at how LONG mattel kept up the articulation (3-4 years) since they usually have one good idea for the Barbie then completely ruin the line with dumb choices without a few years (RIP Cali Girl/Fashion Fever).

Apparently the Barbie Luxe arms and hands can disassemble so there's the plus of a quality doll donor and a good outfit lol.

Oooooh MH style disassemblable (is that a word?) arms! I missed that! I've been hoping Mattel would give barbie those too, but I thougt all hope was lost by now. Well, there's the final excuse I needed to buy Theresa with the polka dot jacket.

SiS never got the newer swiveling fashionista knees, did they? I'm not a fan of hinged knees at all, I find they take too much of the poseability away. Better than nothing, though. I guess the chances of seeing a SiS with better articulation now must be really slim.

I have a SiS with elbows and wrists but click knees, which I'd take over hinged. Personally I haven't found one with 100 Poses knees but I heard the Baby Phat was the most jointed line.

The last Barbies I bought were Dreamhouse to get a Steffie face Midge and the smirky Raquel. Before that it was a pair of pivotal bodied collectables for head swaps and to have an example for my old website.

I saw them appearing on the shelves and hoped it wasn't going to trend back to this but I guess it is. Guess I need to go grab some of the few jointed ones that are still out for body donors.
Kim, I bought both the Steffie face Midge and the smirky Raquel also. I don't think I've ever seen a Mattel face quite as quirky as the Raquel. She was a must have.

I think so, I have BabyPhat Kara with hinged knees (one of the reasons I got her). And Kenya dolls have the same joints too.

If only obitsu would offer a few more skin tones, that would really solve a lot of my problems with articulation... :P Or maybe I should start branching out into female action figures.

I've never seen a facemold like smirky!Raquelle either, at least not from Mattel. Really glad they went with that, and I hope they're not retiring it already.
