Hot Toys TTM20 questions. :)

Postby ~TurkishDelight~ » Fri Mar 14, 2014 7:25 pm

I have a few questions about the Hot Toys True Type TTM20 Advanced Muscular. I heard he's really huge, somewhere around 11 1/2 to 12 inches tall at the top of the neck (the actual neck, not the neck peg). He sounds great since I'm looking for a big guy that's quite a bit bigger than a Neo-Goh. But I have some questions about him since I can't see him in real life.

-Does anyone have pics of him next to Neo-Goh or Monster High female body?

-Do the Neo-Guy heads fit him? If so, how well does the color match?

-Does he fit Monster High male boots?

I have no idea what I'm doing in this thread. I own a TTM Basic, so I can answer one of the questions, but another user is going to have to do pictures, unless you want a TTM Basic shot, which I can give? (The TTM Basic is nice, definitely beefy and tall, but I believe for an even beefier, taller guy you might want to try a Hot Toys? It really depends on what you're going for, because even a TTM Basic looks extremely beefy and muscular holding a Monster High gal...)

The only question I can answer:

-Does he fit Monster High male boots?

Nope. You're going to have to go for Hot Toys/GI Joe/etc type of footwear. The foot is much bigger, and there's risk of snapping the joint because his ankles swivel.

Out of burning curiousity because this seems like a specific set of questions...what are you working on? :D

Haha yeah, I guess it is an odd set of questions. So to answer your question about my questions...^^

-Does anyone have pics of him next to Neo-Goh or Monster High female body?
I'm working on a set of original characters of mine. This particular character is a really big heavy guy, height and thickness-wise. (He's actually muscular and heavyset at the same time.) So I need a doll that's significantly taller and thicker than my Neo-Goh character. The Monster High girl body is going to be a little fox guy character that is important to my big guy. (I might sand down her chest or just make it a fur tuft.) So I'm anxious to see if they look good together. ^^

-Do the Neo-Guy heads fit him? If so, how well does the color match?
I see a Neo-Guy head that looks like it was made just for him, and I'm hoping it will fit on the TTM20 (and that the color will match well).

-Does he fit Monster High male boots?
Clawd Wolf's 'Forbitten Love' and 'Sweet 1600' boots look like they'd go good on my character. I don't have the boots yet, but I was wondering if they'd fit the TTM20 because my Gil Webber's dance class shoes look big enough for my Neo-Goh's large feet (I ordered the Neo-Guy feet for him and they're the same size as Gil's feet). I haven't tried them on, because you're right, I'm scared of getting the feet broken off in them too, but I thought maybe if TTM20's feet won't slide inside I could take them off and sit the ankles down in the boots on a support maybe?

A while back, DollyKim and others were trying to help me find a big, thick guy. I learned about the TTM20 and he's the biggest I know of, so I'll probably end up getting him anyway because of that fact. (I don't know of any other doll with that height and heft.) But these questions keep going through my head, and I guess the one about the Neo-Guy head is the most important now. ^^

I found this picture doing an image search on the TT model you listed. http://hegemony77.typepad.com/files/dsc_0428.jpg The Ken is a 1999 body which was one of the taller ones but not by much.

Hmnnn, normally DollyKim's got all the answers!! :? I thought someone would own this model for sure, but okay, let me mention a few things. True Type bodies are definitely not the tallest out there, but they ARE on the beefy side, especially compared to a Monster High body. Even my TT Basic body is about...I'd say 1 1/2 the thickness of a Monster High Female body.

As for heads...again, I don't own them so I can't be completely sure but I DO know that matching head to body is extremely hard with TT bodies, all of them. You generally have to be happy with "Well it's not a tan body with a pale, sunless skintone head". I would be wary of crossmatching though because the neck is thick on TT Bodies (by "anime doll" standards), and I know even the Neo-Goh retains a bit of that anime-streamline look. A quick look at DollyKim's pictures and...the neck looks a lot thinner to me, but considering it's a "post neck" you MAY be able to modify it to fit if you want to go that far. Again, I want to admit that I'm freely giving out advice with my ignorant thumb up my...well, you get it. I don't own either of the dolls in question but a sort of "middleman" between the two species of doll if you will. With the colour, you might have to paint the head even if the head can be modded. Neo-Goh bodies don't match the TT bodies. Quick question, are you talking about Neo-Goh, or Neo-Goh Guy, the more muscular model? ^^;;

Boots: The legs are just so different from an MH leg that I don't know if even shoving the TT body inside without the foot is a good idea. It won't hurt anything, but he'll definitely look off kilter and probably fall out. I'm betting you could find some awesome boots that are meant to fit on Ebay. They have an amazing assortment of clothes. :D TT bodies have some definite heft and weight to them which is why I'm suggesting some boots that fit the foot. :)

If you want to get taller, you may have to modify your fox boy shorter. As for the boobs-vs-shaving thing, I would definitely shave the breasts and slap some epoxy on there (since the breasts are hollow) to make a more male looking chest. Unless you plan on making that chest tuft a wild bush (which I'm assuming not, I'm thinking more along the lines of anthropomorphic furries, tell me if I'm totally off the mark) there will definitely be some hint of whatever underlying shape is there.

This project definitely sounds interesting, I do hope you'll share with us when you're done! Or in progress. ;)

I can tell you that the Volks Neo Go head and the Ht body do not match in color. Also the HT cannot fit the MH shoes.

Hmm, so TTM20's not the tallest guy out there, but it's ok as long as he looks taller than my Neo-Goh, and beefy. It's good he's so beefy, haha. As for the head, I wanted a Neo-Guy H04 head (the muscular guy). I am making an anime style character, but he's not as pretty or 'anime-streamline' as the Goh (not a bishonen), so I might be able to get a head that goes with the TTM20 body that looks similar to the Neo-Guy H04 and repaint it a more anime style. I just have no idea what heads there are for that body. :?

Neo-Guy H04 head:

As for the boots, if MH male boots can't fit, I'll have to get him boots meant for his body, but again I'm not sure what will fit him or what to look for. :|

I think my fox boy will be small enough by the TTM20. I found a pic from Hegemony77 comparing TTM20 with MH dolls. I moved them next to each other, and he looks really big by them. I found a Neo-Goh pic from someone else and made him about the right size compared the MH dolls, then added him next to Hegemony's pics.

Doll body comparison:

I might file down the chest on the MH girl body. I saw someone soften the plastic with a candle flame (sootless birthday candle is best) and smoosh the chest down, then file it. I might try it, and hopefully I won't file it too much and make holes. A fur tuft might work. He's not an anthro furry with an animal head. He looks mostly human, but has a big fox tail, large fox ears, and small paw feet. I flocked his legs and made paws, but I'm not sure how much of his body I'll cover, or if I'll just do the legs. Sometimes I imagine he's covered in fine fur (he's more of a skintone color like a fennec) with a white tuft on the chest, but I don't know if flocking the entire doll is a good idea. Sometimes he's not so furry. Since he's a kitsune, he can change his appearance with fox magic, so I have some flexibility there. ^^ I love the MH girl's body for him because it has a cat-like, fairy-like, or fox-like shape. <3

I'd love to share pics of my progress with this project one day, now I just need to come up with some money for all my TTM20's stuff.

If you can get your hands on a proper heat gun, I would use that over a candle flame. Less dangerous. But that's a really cool idea.

TTM20 is huge O_o'

Any idea which existing Hot Toys dude(i.e whether a Thor or a T-800 or Chris Redfield for reference) is using the body? Kinda want a big tough guy loom over the rest of my males. My Neo Goh and hybrid 21st century chap are the tallest of my dudes at the moment.

The True Type is massive, definitely bigger than a Goh and 21st, Sideshow is pretty big too.
