yeah I tried to buy whatever I could off there I was just going there looking for eyes for a doll for my daughter and then was like oh crap its clearance... spent like an hour trying to add stuff to the cart but everything but a few eyes and a couple hats were gone already. kinda sucked but oh well

And....today was the Volksusa blow-out clearance sale and whew! It was a mad dash!! At exactly 2 PM EST, I quickly rammed as many dolls into my cart as possible. I managed to add 75 dolls at 90% off!! (I.E. Getting $185 dolls for $18.50 each or $64 dolls for $6.40 each!!!) I did it as quickly as I could but guess it wasn't quite fast enough as when I clicked 'order now', they informed me that 20 of the dolls I'd ordered were sold out in that time. (Within 6 minutes!) The biggest loss in these 20 were the 6 'Takeru' Neo Goh Guy dolls that were just $3.90 each!!!! I didn't end up with any! :cries: Imagine Neo Goh Guys for $3.90.....

My sis kept telling me to check out with just the Takerus in the cart, but I was like, 'let me just add a few more to save on s/h....' and after 6 minutes of grabbing dolls, I lost all 6 Takerus!
ARGH....
That's painful but at least I got 55 other dolls at 90% off!

The bad news is that ALL the custom hair heads were already gone and all the blank doll bodies, too.
The only items left at all were the 'finished' dolls, so those were what I ended up with. I managed to order 10 anime headed dollfies; 2 sculpted/molded hair dollfies; 15 Kana/Mami WTG? dollfies; and 28 Century Model/HaniKami dollfies.

It's a lot at once, (too much!) but it's 90% off! We rely on Volks and Obitsu parts for our commission work, so losing Volks completely now is a big hit. I'd rather they DIDN'T have this big clearance closeout sale, actually, so we can continue to count on them to buy custom hair heads, etc from when needed! Once my stock of heads is depleted, we won't be able to obtain any more Volks heads now!

Hopefully, Volks.co.jp will still be offering them for a while but it's bad that we haven't as many choices for customizations. ^^;; :sighs:

Well, this is the Rejoice thread, though, and I'll focus on the fact I just managed to get quite a few dolls at a HUGE discount! ^^ I plan to get some of the upfront costs back by selling their outfits which we don't want/need.

Also, Setsuna, congrats on what you DID manage to snatch up! I completely missed the sale!! *SOBSOB*

Well, since this is the rejoice thread.....erm....my mother is completely willing to go to the hospital and rip some ER doctors a new one? A parent who will fight to the death for their adult child is a rare gift. :D I rejoice that I have a parent like that. I don't know what I would do without her at my side. :)

Haha yeah even though my mom and I differ on a lot of things, when I told her some of what my boss was doing to me, she was all set to call my CORPORATE OFFICE and complain. Granted I had to leave out some of the parts about thinking some of his motivation for his treatment of me is because I'm with another woman, because I'm not ready to come out to her yet, but...

lol mall cop syndrome...

I figure with the Volks sale if I haven't needed/wanted it in all these years what difference does a sales price make?

Yeah, none of this is making me feel better about missing $1+ heads. *Sobs quietly in corner* This sale was such a big deal! I had no idea there was legions of customers waiting to snatch up blank heads! How much you wanna bet we're going to see scalper's prices on Ebay in the next month or so?

:hugs: Don't feel too badly, MeltedCaramel-san! ALL the heads and bodies were already completely sold out before the store site even opened. I guess all the buyers at the store's physical location in Los Angeles had already purchased them all on Mar 16 when they had a special 'in store' clearance sale there first.
So, if you were only looking for blank heads and bodies, you didn't miss anything.

The only 1/6 dolls left available when the site came online were the finished ones and they were gone all almost immediately. The only things I regret missing were the 6 Takeru (Neo Goh Guy dolls) that I had in my cart and then while I was adding other dolls to the cart, in the 6 minutes it took us, ALL 6 NGG dolls were removed from cart, saying that someone else already bought them! That's my big mistake! Especially since my sis, standing over my shoulder at the time, said 'Just checkout with them already! You're gonna lose them!" ANd I replied 'Just a few more of these other dolls to save on s/h....'

But even though it only took 6 minutes to add 75 dolls to my cart, by the time I checked out (6 minutes!) 20 of those in my cart were pulled with 'No longer available'! I, of course, wasn't happy that happened, but what was really painful were the 6 NGGs that were pulled! THAT is my fault and punishment! My sis did warn me and we even planned to do that before the sale started, but I was trying to save on their ultra high s/h costs and in doing so, missed them! (But the s/h I paid was still incredibly high---$135 for shipping. However, it's absolutely worth it despite that cost.)

So, if you really wanted mostly heads, don't feel bad at all----they were entirely gone already even before the sale started. ;)

Never make concrete plans for a doll until it is in your hands.

All the little peoples I've wanted to make and priced parts for could do something that requires quite a bit of money to do. The latest pair have gone from not wanting to pay $200 each to $60 for a pair of matching bodies when one is taller than the other to making do with bodies I have. The heads are about half done waiting for me to carve out the Apoxie Sculpt that needs to be replaced so it looks like one smooth piece. If I even get around to finishing them. I have a bin of reroot ideas I haven't started on either.

Ack, I'm sorry to hear about the missed NGG dolls Setsunsa!! I know you rely on them for a bunch of Commission work (and people like me are clearing out your current stock with orders! ). I've recently had to switch my plans up and use Obitsu Male Slim bodies for characters that would really look better with that little extra bit of muscle. :? But still, I find a good faceup and outfit usually cure me of those ills! (Not always though! )

I don't blame you for trying to save on the shipping and handling though....I always scratched my head when it was like "Here's your $17 head...that will be $14 shipping please :D". I'd rather just order from the .jp site for those prices! At least then I would feel like the shipping price meant something besides "Let me just gently steal your wallet here."

I'm so glad you managed to snag some stuff though!! ^___^ *Hugs*

As for Dollykim....where's the fun in planning? ;)

Those things are awesome! I'd have one if I had a baby but I have future plans to adopt a toddler. :)
