1/4 adult male sculpt questions...what would you recommend?

Postby MeltedCaramel » Fri Mar 28, 2014 9:55 pm

Hey there everyone! I've decided I'm taking the resin plunge and getting a doll, but I've noticed a rather distinct lack of "adult" sculpts in the MSD 1/4 size. I've settled on a grey Resinsoul Sui (on a normal grey body) which is getting dyed midnight black for one of my characters (he's getting heavily modded thanks to OkamiKodomo's sweet and patient advice <3), but he needs his partner in crime! Can everyone tell me their favourite adult male 1/4 sculpts? All companies are welcome, I'm just looking for some mature boys to hang out in my yard baby. ;)

As always, thank you all for being so helpful!!

Most common (to me anyway) for BJD is Yo-SD=Children, MSD=Teens, SD+=Adults. But a face-up can greatly change the look of any doll.

I think IslandDolls Wallace and Shukaku could work.
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.

<----I'll have to look up those sculpts. I understand that's the general "BJD consensus" but with space issues and being a total beginner to resin I would prefer an MSD guy hanging around the house, especially since I can't have one without his work partner...peanut butter without jelly! So two MSD guys, I know it doesn't seem big to most BJD owners but you're talking to a 1/6 hoarder here, I'm used to my boys being 12'', and Oh my Lord does that sound wrong!!! Ah well, verbal slip or not, we all know what I mean. Plastic. I'm not making it any better am I?

I would recommand Souldoll Vito. They are tall enough to pretend to be short SD but they are pretty tall fir the msd crowd at 52cm. Faceups would naturally affect the age of the doll. Check the blog link on my blog or my DA for the shorter bjd pic.

Another one to check out is Luts new model delf line. they seem taller than their own company's msd line. Other than these two would be the harder to find Idealian 51 from Soom and the new class 50 from IOS

Hmnnn, two people have recommended the Luts line to me now, I'll have to check these boys out! Thank you both for your advice! I know mature MSD boys are kind of hard to come by. My main issue isn't the faceups so much as it is the actual face shape on most of them. They tend to be heart shaped and very boyish. That's why the ResinSoul Sui sculpt captured my eye immediately: he has a mature, longer face, delicate without being too androgynous, and plenty of character to build on! :D I'm off to look up everyone's recommendations so far, thank you so much! <3

Withdoll has some nice MSD boys. I just got an Aiden head, and I think the jawline and eye shape makes them look more mature than most other minis.

Iplehouse JIDs have many mature sculpts, but they are more expensive and can be difficult to find clothing for. Still, I wouldn't trade my Owen for anything as he's perfect for the OC he personifies. MNFs have mature bodies, but their facial sculpts are very boyish. I'm looking forward to comparing the Luts MDF a friend is getting to both of my MSD boys, though. Could be a nice compromise.

I totally forgot about the MNF muscle body. I don't know how, since we have one here. But seeing as you seem to like a lot of the ResinSoul faces, MC, I will say that with some blushing, MNF Normal and RS Normal can be made to match, and RS white, with some exposure to sunlight and a little blushing, can likewise match MNF white.

Luts Abadon has a squarish jaw. One or three Souldoll Vito boys (My Rail who has half closed eyes, Elan and Cior). I agree on the Iple lads since they're so fond of the square jaw look. You could keep an eye out for their weekly auction in the event they are letting their boys go at an cheaper rate
