oh man. you all know a couple weeks ago I started an anti-depressant? its really working, at least on the absolute anxiety I was having. work is way more enjoyable when I'm not freaking out about stuff. and I even went to the farm store and ordered the compost I wanted for the garden, something I kept avoiding last summer cause it just... freaked me out about asking for it.

A friend of mine shared this short animated film about an enchanted doll shop trying to enchant a little girl.

It had me thinking that about 8 years back just around the time I got back into dolls. I was a little freaked out after heading into a porcelain doll store (they had pretty antiquey buttons in stock) and Domuya itself when they had their 1/6 tinys on display (leaving Dollmaster display out of this). I was uncomfortable where porcelain dolls and childlike dolls are concern

Flash forward to now I have 2 1/6 playline young obitsu with eyehole heads, a 50cm vinyl and two largish resin dudes Not counting the rest of the painted eyes playline crew and the strung ABS anthros cats. I like anthros.

I'm still a little uncomfortable around porcelain dolls. I still don't like the idea of reborn baby dolls. But there are some online and offline owners who's human tinys and young 1/4 that I'm comfortable looking at, although I would rather stick to older character dolls since they're easier for me to shell and work with. I don't find the young dolls of said owners to be creepy at all. Unless of course their owners shoot them in a way that the doll comes across as creepy.

It had me wondering if years of hanging around here and just looking at pics made me get used to having the younger dolls around. I mean kinda want a Minfee Shushu, Dollzone Shoyu and an AOD Lan and various points of my hobby. And AOD Lan being a young girl type. The Pukisha is cute in a cat like way, the Pong Pong belongs to my friend. I want an MDD version of one of my 1/6 dolls. I even like the photos of a certain Blythe owner. I like Pulips

For all I know it could be a case or "Doll belongs to someone I know and is friendly in that sense" or its a case of "I can return said doll to owner at end of meet since I'm not likely to buy one." or its a case of "Attack me if you dare, creepy doll. My dolliehs will crush you!"

Don't ever watch the Twilight Zone episode The Collection, Stuart Gordon's movie The Dolls, or an 80s horror film called Tourist Trap.

"My name is Talky Tina, I seen that Twilight Zone one before." That one is still okay, along with Chucky. I don't remember seeing the other two though.

Spent the last half hour fiddling with my 1/6 Tony Stark and Loki kitbashes (basically versions of them in "civilian" clothes to go with themselves in their full regalia), I'd completely forgotten how fun these action figure/collectables are!

Poses I'd only dream of in BJDs (And possibly even 1/6 Obitsus are beat here - at least in terms of realistic human positions - both of the basic Hot Toy's bodies I've gotten for these two have shoulder blades so they can shrug and slouch, double ball jointed necks, and ball jointed rather than basic hinge ankles. Darn just realised I'd love to see what Hot Toys would do at 1/3 scale - would it be as big a poseability jump as Obitsu? I wonder...)

And Rement, and all the other things that are so easy to find in 1/6 scale... Like their park bench, and Tony's beach bar, and the really really girly/chintsy cafe, and Loki's new set of (faintly ridiculous) duds which make him look suspiciously like this guy:

(...Okay don't tell Loki this but he inherited his outfit from one of my Obitsus - he fills it out better than the poor Obitsu slim ever did though...)
Crazy Mulitverse Crew: Drax, Jareth, Jerome, Elrana Milenkova, The Thin White Duke, Vasily Lupandin, Ramin Aiphos, Theta Sigma, Aiko Koyame, Lord Havelock Vetinari, Dr Nicholas Rush, Anon., Nyta Kinall, Otto Kreiner, That Demon, Sasu, Yaya, Ombre
...reshelling Szesil Markowski and Garan Idasson

It's not the Talky Tina one, The Collection is from the later version of the TZ and has a really freaky gimmick along with 1/6 scale dolls. It's one of the better ones that would have made a good movie.

Gotta love 1/6 for the amount of stuff thats easier to find for them. Hot Toys was one reason why I ended up liking Iplehouse for their action figureness.

I'll be very happy if I can find some 1/6 barrels and a brick wall wallpaper for my dolls table top backdrop

If Hot Toys went 1/3 I think they'd go the Obitsu internal skeleton route. You get to certain sizes and the physics of some joints has to change simply because of the weight of a doll that size. Most of my bigger strung doll making efforts have had engineering problems getting joints to lock.

You could always make or commission heads for bigger versions.
