Favorite jewelry

Postby bitterdarjeeling » Fri Apr 04, 2014 8:19 am

Does anybody else have a favorite kind of jewelry that makes them go weak in the knees? Anything that you wear all the time or only pull out for special occasions? I have quite a weakness for cameos and crystal pendants.

My wedding set. <3 Other than that, I have a fondness for the handmade geek items found at Artist Alleys.

I only wear a little jewelry. My wedding and engagement ring, a necklace with a Fleur de lis that was a gift from my mother and gold hoop earrings. My current hoops were a Christmas present from my husband, 9 years ago. :D

I love mad over the top costume jewellery - alchemy gothic is a favourite brand of mine. My most recent piece from them... Don't wear jewellery day to day tbh, just for special occasions

I often wear a necklace that I made from a phone charm. The phone charm was given to me by a dear friend, and unfortunately, the string to attach it to my phone broke.

I also have two rings that I often wear on my ring finger. One says "Imagine," and the other says "Dream."

My silver sunflower hook earrings.I barely ever take them off, they mean everything to me...They were left to me by my grandmother after she passed away...I actually had given them to her the year before she passed away...So my last memories of her were of her wearing them. I feel closer to her by wearing them, like as long as I have them...My grandma isn't so far away.

Ah, victoriavictrix those beads are gorgeous!! Absolutely stunning. Do you happen to own all of the examples shown or are yours different? They're such unique works of art!

Hmnn, as for me, I adore jewelry. I make much of my own and what I don't make I buy! I love dichroic glass beads and own a large selection of local artisan work. I also particularly love anything made with drusy quartz. The sparkle! Opals too, and moonstone...

Yeah, I'm a jewelry slut.

Rings are my weakness. When I put my typical rings on, I have a total of 8 silver rings on my right hand and 7 gold rings on my left hand. Yes, I really do regularly wear 15 rings at a time.

I like unique rings, too. I don't really wear plain ones. I have a silver ring with 5 tiny silver bells, a ring that's actually a cat's body curved around your finger, a stainless steel tension ring that holds a clear stone in place through tension alone, a sliver ring that has a star and a tiny tag that says dream. I've also got my son's baby ring that I had my jeweller mount a tiger's eye on (it didn't need to be sized up for me to wear it on my index finger) and the same jeweller made me a custom black and white pearl ring. My wedding ring is close to 100 years old and I also have my mom's wedding ring, which she gave to me after my dad passed away and I wear my grandmother's wedding ring, which she instructed to be given to me after she died.

I also like stones, so I have, diamond, sapphire, peridot, jet, moonstones, blood amber, malachite, onyx, pearls, lapis lazuile, tiger eye, opal, aquamarine, amethyst, garnet, hemitite, rainbow topaz and probably some I'm forgetting. I'd love to have ruby, alexandrite, watermelon tourmaline... well there's quite a few I'd like.

I'm a 'more bling more betterer' kinda person. I have quite a few things from '1928 Jewelry Co.' and a few from Kirk's Folly. Double pierced ears means I can double the bling. I teach a beading class at work on how to make a simple crystal bracelet and I have tons of them in all colors. I've made a couple fairly complicated crystal necklaces too.

My most important piece of jewelry is my diamond ring. I inherited my mom's engagement ring and had it remounted with a couple diamond stud earrings I bought when I moved to AK. Not huge, but a good quality and plenty of sentiment. I won't be leaving it to my son who would never value it, but plan on leaving it to a grand-niece who has my mom's name for her middle name. Any kid stuck with Immaculata for a middle name deserves diamonds!
Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD.
