Vetinari One of the many reasons Horrible Histories music segments are fantastic; they lampshade that sort of thing. But you're right, it is very much a mad thing.

And yes, I picked some more favourite videos

My Last Semester by The Wonder Years. I only really discovered this song relatively recently, and even though this is only a lyric video, the song and the whole scribbled mess of a background picture really summed up how I felt in my last few terms at university. Honestly, I really support people going and learning stuff, but I have many issues with the institutions set up for people to learn in. But yes, the song is fantastic, and easy to relate to.

Some more Horrible Histories here with Matilda(s), Stephen ... and Henry. This one is really a take off of Abba. I'm not the greatest expert, but name-dropped or musically referenced seem to be: Fernando, Waterloo, Voulez-Vous, Dancing Queen, Gimme Gimme, Take a Chance on Me, I Do I Do I Do, The Winner Takes it All, Mama Mia, Knowing Me Knowing You. Insane, I know, but it works.

Continuing on the educationally fun songs, here's the Joan of Arc song, which is pretty much Jessie J's 'Price Tag.' (Actually, fun fact, 'nunnery' used to be a common slang for ... well let's just say the Seamstress Guild workplaces. Granted, this was more in the age of pirates, but for some reason it always comes to mind and makes the song have this unintentional layer of irony.) And here we also have (We're The) Georgian Navy, a send up of all those sport chants, but mostly the song Vindaloo by Fat Les.

One from childhood that never fails to get me (attempting to) sing along: The Nations of the World, brought to you by Yakko Warner.

Okay, so let's look at non-educational videos for a bit. Erm, okay! I'm a bit of an Emily the Strange fan, and I found out recently that they produced a music video for her band 'Emily and the Strangers'. And I have to admit, the animated music video is pretty awesome: Calling All Guitars.

Okay, that was a lot more than I intended to write. Maybe next time I'll get into the more 'classic' music videos I really like (though I am going to check the thread to see if anyone else has mentioned them first)
