Greyhaunt's Word for Today

Postby Greyhaunt » Tue Apr 15, 2014 11:20 pm

Puce.

Why puce? Because it's such an AWESOME word? I mean, puce is one of those words that really gives you a visual of what it is. If you say someone's face is puce, then you just KNOW it's not a good thing. You can close your eyes and see someone who is so congested with anger their face is all dark and purple and red and damn near about to explode!

Tonight I just love the word puce.

um...yea...I've been doing a lot of writing lately and sometimes I just suddenly fall in love with a word and feel the need to share.

PUCE - because someone had to say it first!

maybe tomorrow i'll fall in love with cauliflower....but I somehow doubt it....(the word, not the vegetable - I actually do love the vegetable).

I had to look up the pronunciation. I do love awesome words. My vocabulary has devolved into transitions like, diaper to diapy, pacifier to passy, and from time to time I drop major verbs and give my son a voice. "No mommy, I'm not going to seepies!" My husband says it sounds too much like Cartman. I deny this accusation. (I do a pretty epic Cartman and Butters.)

I love learning new words even if I don't always use them. ;)
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.

I don't like puce, and neither should you, because it's too close to pink.

The color allegedly is based on the color of blood-stained flea droppings.
Just....a nasty word all around.

I like the word "Chestnut".
I hate the words "Serendippity" (not the meaning of the word, just the word itself), onomotopoeia (again, not the concept, just the word), rebar and bebop.

Now look up "synesthesia".

See I like the words "bathrub" and "spoon". Say them a few times and see if you don't start giggling. And kumquat. It just doesn't sound like something one should ever eat.
