Thoughts on this new doll?

Barbie, Jenny, Fashion Royalty, Obitsu and 1/6 resins - basically anything 10-12inch/21-27cm or in the neighborhood.

Anyone heard what's going on with this project?

Until I moved my dollhouse I almost forgot they don't have a 'no fat chicks' rule because they're such a family. I can't be the only person int he universe who bought Edna and Tracey from Hairspray, already had Christopher Walken, and I moved them in even though they can't bend their arms or legs. Tracey gave up on Link and ended up with Dr Kermit Gibb.

but with all this talk of Lammily and if she's a good doll or not, it does raise a good question. is body versatility in dolls harder to make/sell because they are unappealing to the standards of the public and the media, or is it because it's hard to find an audience that wants one? i haven't seen many bigger-bodied BJDs, actually, and i'm always thinking about how much i'd like to have one. of course, the reasons would be different between people who carefully craft BJDs and people who design toys for mass production, but what do you think? is an "average-body" doll far away for little tykes and BJD collectors alike? why? sorry if it sounds like a stupid question ^^;;

it's about damned time, i'd say.

MATTEL should have retired that tired old criminally-outdated BARBIE body design many decades ago,
and should have had at least a couple dozen redesigns in the interim, leading up to some highly refined,
virtually perfect CAD-assisted celebratory glorification of the unparalleled beauty of the feminine humanoid form, YMMV and all that, of course.

all the same, i'll be sticking with OBITSUs, thankyouveymuchindeed...

@SquishyPies Thanks.

Actually there are several Barbie bodies including the "belly" which are more naturally shaped. The one most of us are familiar with is the Twist N Turn and they're inclined to keep making the same measurements because of the amount of clothes etc out in the world. I have a life time of Barbie clothes and shoes I'd hate to not be able to use because no one could fit them.

One question I'd have for Lammily's is did he ever play dolls as a kid? Many of us grew up with a hodge podge doll family made up of different kinds. For the longest time mine was Beauty Secrets Barbie, Darci, Michael Jackson, and his girlfriend Crystal Christie.When I got doll money I bought Jazzie, Teen Skipper, and Joey McIntyre. It was about the character of the doll and who they were more than their body type until I entered the custom market.

There's doll psychology beyond their looks or I wouldn't still have a one handed Darci whose head falls off.

I can see a resemblance. Coupled with the fact he literally named the doll after himself it's kind of eyebrow raising.

Reminds me of a guy that was on a season of Face Off and ALL of the faces he sculpted looked like him. I couldn't believe that he made it so far on the show.

I can't remember if anyone has brought this up before, but the "normal looking doll as an alternative to Barbie" idea is hardly new, or even revolutionary. It's been done before. The "Happy To Be Me" doll was released sometime in the late 80s/early 90s, and was touted as the doll that would oust Barbie. Yeah...never happened.

Probably because the doll was BUTT UGLY.

Cheaply made, flimsy, easily broken, with the WORST face-up in the history of fashion dolls...yeah.

This is why my hopes are really high for Laminated...err, Lammily. Whatevs.

She was not more fun to play with, that's why I don't have her any more.
