Abbey Bominable Bedroom Set

Postby CrazyYoungCatLady » Sun Apr 27, 2014 7:31 pm

A long time ago, my friend's mom made me a plastic canvas bedroom set for my Barbies. I don't remember what happened to it, probably got lost in the many moves over the years. I always loved that set and was so sad that I didn't have it anymore. Well, I found the pattern book! The colors and designs are totally 80's (published in 1989), so I decided to bring it into the 21st century by making it in Monster High colors and toning down the 80's-ness of the whole thing. I made a bed and small dresser. The pattern book also includes a large dresser, wardrobe, chairs, table, and dressing screen.

Abbey's set is made with sparkly white yarn (which sadly didn't translate well in the pictures) with light blue accents. The top dresser drawer is fake, but the bottom two open and close. On to the pics!

I had a lot of fun making this! I'd like to try more colors for Spectra and Draculara. I really want to make the wardrobe, but I've run out of plastic canvas.

So nice looking! Wonderful job! I love those colors, and I bet the glitter makes it even better. :)

Thanks everyone! I did get yarn to make more- pink and black for Draculara, purple and silver for Spectra, and black and silver for Frankie. I think I'd like to make the wardrobe for Abbey before I start on others, though. Just need to run by Hobby Lobby for some more plastic canvas.

Oh wow, CrazyYoungCatLady, this is incredible!! :D I love how tight and uniform everything is! I'm kind of lusting after that pillow for some strange reason too. I know it is a side effect of the design but I adore the open-ended look. I can't wait to see more of these! :) You could do some crazy designs within the weave too! I need to stop thinking about this before I end up with some plastic canvas and yarn of my own! ;)
