Resurrection (The TV Series)

Postby Kirahfaye » Sun May 04, 2014 5:16 pm

My daughter is an extra in tonight's season finale of Resurrection. If you haven't been watching it, you should consider it - it really is a very good show. Joy will be the petite, short haired 1960s stewardess looking girl in a dark blue and white block print dress and a red pill box hat in and around the church.

We aren't thrilled or anything....

You have a good reason for excitement!

How fun! I think it would be pretty neat to be an extra. I'll bet she's excited.

She was definitely excited, though it was grueling for a first timer - 12-14 hour days and she hardly got to sit. I'd love to see outtakes because she mentioned being in front of the camera during several scenes that didn't show up (including an hour filming getting into and off of one of the school buses). She actually had the opportunity to be part of the end of the previous episode which was filmed on the 4th day (where the Returned show up after dark), but by that time she was frazzled.

Here's a photo of her in costume-

Since then (after having done extra work twice more), Joy decided she'd rather pursue voice acting. She's rather good at it although the one paid work she's been offered so far (most have been fan based) was cancelled....

That's great! Even if she doesn't pursue a career in TV/Film it's a good experience to have under her belt.

Wish I'd seen this thread before I watched last night LOL! I have to say I didn't notice her particularly, but I was more focused on the story at that point. Happy she got the chance to see what she might or might not want to do in the future. My big sister's BIL has been an extra for years and done a few indy films as well in larger roles.
Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD.

Joy started doing extra work because one of her co-op teachers who was also her theater director (and is a family friend) also does a fair amount of extra work. Rosemary had several background scenes in the movie "42" and has been in Dance Moms as an extra "mom", for example. But she's always been more of a behind the camera type of person and she doesn't take being yelled at by directors very well. I think she not only inherited her dad's mimicry ability, she has taken it a few levels up. And voice acting is something she can to without lots of other people around - or uncomfortable situation (like being made to walk behind a moving school bus for hours in a yet to be released movie).  Yeah - same director.....

Anyway, thanks y'all. If you think about it, watch the episode on ABC's web site and if you see a red pill box hat floating around, it will be my daughter!
