That reminds me, it's time to reorder MSC. The two cans I bought 5 years ago are almost used up (24+, 5-6 coat face-ups later). Maybe only 1 face-up left in there.

Oooh that listing clears up a few things. MSC is designed for polycarbonate??? Huh mebbe it's time to check out other PC-based/targetted sprays. Do I remember correctly - MSC is designed for Gundam model kits right?

Okies even more digging - apparently both MSC and Tamiya TS clear coats are lacquer based? So both acrylic and generally paint and plastic safe?

I wouldn't read anything into that heading other than the paints in that section are suitable for polycarbonate.

If it was designed for Gundams, most of those kits (as other hobby model kits) are polystyrene not polycarbonate.

Don't know about that either since up until recently the label on MSC was entirely in Japanese. But it does seem to have that "lacquer stank" to it.

This is the kind of Krylon that was suggested to me by a person who does face-ups. It isn't the usual automotive/craft type of Krylon.

Have you guys heard about it? I'm hearing that I shouldn't use Krylon but was told this was safe.

Both my local Hobby Store, and the local Gamestore carry MSC. I nagged the gamestore into it, because I shop there. PM me.

Huh, I've never seen MSC at the "big box" stores like Hobby Lobby or Michaels. However, I haven't looked specifically for it, either. And can I say I am THRILLED that a Hobby Lobby is moving into the recently closed K-Mart store a couple of miles away? No more driving 14 miles to the nearest one!

I gave up on doing faceups 3 years ago when I became very ill after my one and only attempt. I used a heavy duty mask, but my throat was still adversely affected and it took 2 weeks before I got better. My husband, an environmentally scientist and a safety and hazardous waste manager, was not thrilled that I didn't go ahead and get a respirator. Recently I've been toying with the idea of trying my hand at faceups again, though....

Ditch the dust mask and buy a respirator, although you can still use the dust mask for applying pastels. A proper respirator will make a world of difference when spraying. Sounds like your husband can help you with selection and fitting. Or let someone else do the aerosols for you.

Ah. See, there used to be a hobby store in town years ago but like everything else small and awesome, it closed. I'm sure there are some out near the big mall but that's 30 minutes away.

Okay, I have to admit this Krylon (I'm going to use since I've got it) is pretty cool, it isn't clouding in my lovely Tennessee humidity.

That didn't stop me from buying 10 cans of MSC though.

There's the automotive line, a home-repair type of line, and the artists' line. Buy the wrong Krylon and you melt your doll. Yikes!
