Web comics

Postby Trethowan » Fri Jun 27, 2014 10:06 am

I have a friend who has created a web comic about vampires. I do love all things vampire and I think this one in particular is hilarious. She's been posting on line for a while, but is ready to do a print version and was thinking of doing a Kickstarter. We were talking about swag, merchandising, and marketing and comics in general and I thought I'd ask you guys your opinions. What do you think is a great way to spread the word about such an endeavour? Are there any Cons that you think would be better than others in reference to Artist Alley and general acceptance of a non-anime style web-to-print comic? I have several friends who've done comics in the past and they've generally had mixed results trying to sell their wares at Cons (and get followers in general). I usually buy comics from independent artists on principle, even if I don't read them (unless something is genuinely bad or way overpriced).

I want to help my friend and fellow vampire enthusiast and since you guys are awesome and know many things, I thought I'd ask you for your thoughts, ideas, and general opinions.

This is her web site, so you can see what genre/style I'm talking about.

If she was closer I would suggest our biannual comic book convention. Dealer tables are free. It fills up fast, it is small, but it is really fun. http://midwestcomicbook.com/?page_id=1050

Yeah, that sounds really great! She's in San Francisco. Boy, that would be quite a drive.
