I've lost 1 family member to suicide, plus there are 2 others who had failed attempts, and at least 2 more who have battled the thoughts over the years.

Also, thank you to anyone on here who has ever offered a stick to anyone in this situation. Please, always be open to help even if you just suspect something and don't know for certain.

One of the failed attempts in my family was my own father. This was years before he met my mother. It is hard to imagine never existing. I am grateful for whoever it was who found him and saved him.

When you're handing out sticks see if you can get the person you're giving it to on their feet and moving around. Sometimes a little change in the routine, especially doing something physical, helps turn things for the better.

This is just gorgeous. As someone who suffers situational depression this really hits home. It gets dark in the lonely space between our ears, and sometimes just telling someone all of the awful, vile things running through your mind makes everything a little more bearable. It helps alleviate some of the pressure, letting some of the steam off so the whole contraption doesn't explode on us.
