The Firebird

They're too sexy for their clothing - but they have to wear them anyway! Did you buy it? Did you make it? Who cares - let'm strut their stuff here!

The Firebird

I finally finished my Firebird costume, so I wanted to share it with you :D It is my own design, inspired by an illustration I did a couple of years ago. Everything is made of glass beads, with swarovski crystal accents. The model is my porcelain BJD, Bu Yong.

*blinks and her mouth falls open* WOW :o

That outfit is totally amazing. That had to take you a long time to make it. I am so impressed with it. The only problem I am having is I know the photos are not doing all the details justice because it is blending together with it being the same color, but it is very stunning.

hehe Thank you so much! Yeah, it took nearly 3 months to make (I'm crazy, I know). It was really hard to photograph it, I guess because it's so shiny. I only used two colors, red and orange. Everything is just kind of variegated. I'm hoping to get some better shots in the future, if I can figure out what lighting will show it…

I can't even imagine trying to do something like this. All the beading is just so intense. I think the photos came out well for how hard it is to get good shots of shiney and shimmering beads. I have to ask, do you still have working fingers after working on this amazing outfit? heheh.

It was especially intense the past couple of weeks, because the more I saw I was close to the end, the more I worked on it. Yesterday I worked pretty much from the time I got up until about 8:30 at night to get it finished. I only took breaks to eat and take care of my dog. I was so exhausted! Thanks, they were the best shots I got - I tried different lighting, and just about every setting on my camera! Took a few hours to do the photo shoot. haha Surprisingly enough, my fingers feel fine! My wrist was a bit sore this morning, but even that is better now. I'd say the most painful thing was my neck and shoulders from bending over it so long, but I stretch a lot, so it's not too bad. I am taking a week off from beading now, though, I need a break!
