Who Can share what clothes?

Postby Faydreams » Thu Jul 17, 2014 6:55 am

Hi everyone.

So a few days ago Linsilee and I were talking about finding her Obitsu 45cm Orin body clothes and got onto the topic of finding any clothes for him in any size. She has Orin in two sizes currently; 45cm Obitsu and 27cm Obitsu Slim Male boy. The trouble is, as it is with most obitsus, most of the factory made clothing in the stores don't exactly fit right. But we learned something because I have the same 27cm obitsu boy body she does, and here it is.

Obitsu 27cm Slim male bodies, and Ever After High boys can wear the same size pants, and they share that size with Fashionista Barbies. So I forced my two boys into a couple of pairs just to take a picture.

Left to right:

Ever After High Hunter Huntsman in a lovely pair of white and black striped pants.

Pocahontas on a Fashionista body in the Twilight Victoria jeans or the Barbie Basics jeans. (Can't remember which.)

And lastly my 27cm Obitsu Slim Male body in Katness Everdeen pants. Since she was on the Fashionista body Fashionista pants.

With my boys totally ticked off at me I got to thinking of what other dolls I've had trouble with finding clothing for and who they could share with. Here is a picture I took a couple of weeks ago showing how Monster High girls, Mattel Kelly and Chelsea, 11.5cm obitsu, and Fairyland Pukipuki bodies can share dresses or shirts.

So what 1/6th scale dolls do you have that you've found it difficult to find factory clothing for? What did you find that fits?

HEHEH Love the photo of the guys wearing the pants. *grins*

Just wanted make one little correction, I don't have 45cm Obitsu Orin yet, just ordered him today.

I know that my LittleFee dolls can wear some TyGirlz clothing. Those were those plush dolls they did for a short time and the clothing were not bad.

My MiniFee and 40cm Obitsu are able to wear American Girl Hopscotch Hill doll clothing. The only issue there is that the pants length is shorter so they look like high waters and the long sleeve tops are short in the length too.

My RS Bei on the Zi body can fit Ken T-shirts comfortably. My 27cm slim Obitsu can wear Twilight doll clothing (and he looks damn better in it then the sparkly vampires. )

Keep an eye out for Kari Mitchel Designer's Choice, or any variation on those words, and other fashion dolls from M&C Toys. From the same company that makes Power Team Elite guys. The dolls look on the cheap side but the clothes are good and fit the Obitsus and Volks girls. It'll be a doll and a couple of mix and match outfits or if you're lucky several mix and match outfits.

My Slim wears Barbie pants. My Volks Neo Goh is the one who mugged Twilight Deadwood for his pants. He took the Basic Ken's clothes too. Most of my Obitsu and Volks have home made clothes because I couldn't find much that fit them.

My 40cm Orientdoll is skinny enough to fit Tonner size clothes. Other places I used to find clothes have been long out of business :/

Yeah, most of mine will end up with handmade stuff. Finding things that fit the slim male obitsu that isn't a) pink, b) full of glitter, or c) has a K or Ken on it is getting to be a nightmare.

I've taken to drafting my own patterns for them. Made one over the weekend that I am testing now.

I only had the 27cm slim body for a while, for a vintage Mattel Allen head, but the clothing problems - and the massive hands - meant it didn't stay long. I replaced it with a Jackson Jekyll body which is good, but could do with being slightly broader in the shoulders... *le sigh*

My latest clothing nightmare is for a 1977 doll called Gay Bob. I've got some old action man stuff, which I thought would be fine, but the only pieces I like are bursting off him. The problem is that Gay Bob was anatomically correct, so he's had to go back in his box until I find him something - his nakedness would cause too many comments!

Something broader... say... like an Ever After Hunter body?

I didn't realise they were that much broader! I'm definitely picking one up now. :D I got the Allan to be Jimmy Olsen, so once he's finally fixed up I can finish sorting out Superman. (And find somewhere to display them...)

How does Gay Bob compare to some of your other guys? Sideshow and Hot Toys are on the bigger side of 1/6 so some of their stuff might fit.

And I'd like to see what you do with Superman, I've got Tom Welling's head but he doesn't have a body all his own.

He's a bit of an awkward shape - big in the hips, in particular. (I've done a post on him with some comparison pics HERE.) Hot Toys, etc, should be fine, it's just deciding on what to get really.

I'll probably give in one day and get the Hot Toys Christoper Reeve Superman (if only they'd do a George Reeves version!!), but until then I've just got a Mattel hybrid in the works.
