Slightly odd google-fu request!

Um can someone with better search engine skills than me find this anywhere - and indeed how much it goes for nowadays? I own a Pokemon Centre Electric Guitar - and an attempt at googling it found 2 paltry results...

I may or may not need to get the thing insured but have no idea what to list it as and I've never seen another... Long story short I've only ever won 1 big competition in my entire life, and this thing was the prize!

It's actually a surprisingly nice guitar, it's got a nice pickup (though actually not sure if it's an active/passive one... Never tested it without the battery for the inbuilt speaker and wary of taking a working thing apart but I suspect active from the clean tones it produces) and the frets feel real nice compared to my cheapo strat ripoff. It's even got a pokemon themed carry bag!

I've got a feeling it may be more than the old RRP of 230GBP/350USD that the competition letter lists since this site deems it replica-worthy:

But equally it could be worthless since the pokemon fad of my youth is long dead - and since I'm not a guitar expert by any means my assessment of it's quality as an instrument could be way off!

A quick image search turned up a Japanese website(possibly a blog?). I don't read japanase, but in google's translation the writer seems to be discussing wanting one but the price is too high for them at 43,000 yen.

Hah! Thanks guys! At the very least I know it's not just me being bad at finding stuff!

It's quite a nice thing - I think it's one of the few bits of Pokemon memorabilia that I'd keep indefinitely since it's kinda kitsch/cool

Amazon had one at one time and it was listed as "rare" (they don't have one now, so there was no price on it).

$384 is not all that much....but then consider trying to replace the thing, which looks fairly impossible.

Ooh thanks - I hadn't considered that point; replacement... gods. Right - that is a v.v.valid point. Argh - I'll have to see what the legal stuff says about that issue

Oh my God Vetinari, haha if you listed that on the Poke'mon Collectors lj page I have no doubt you could get upwards of $1,000 for it. You need at least ten posts and shop access (by asking a moderator), but if you're ever looking for a quick grand, that might be the way to it! I'm pretty sure that's an extremely rare item. YEP! Did a bit of google-fu in Japanese (I don't speak it but I'm a nerd, we have our ways), and it says it was limited to 40 pieces in Japan (and I imagine worldwide) and was made to commemorate the Poke'mon Center NY 11/16/01 opening. The original price was 43,000yen ($430) to buy. It also apparently has a built in amplifier, but I have no idea what that means. For all that I love Eric Clapton, I don't speak Guitar.

That's pretty much all there is about this guitar! It's a rare piece of merch for sure!
