So upset, have to vent!

So upset, have to vent!

Postby PinkCow » Wed Aug 13, 2014 6:54 pm

I hope it's alright to post this here. If not, feel free to delete or move it. I'm just so frustrated and upset I have to vent to some fellow dolly collectors!

A few days ago I sold my 1/6 size Bobobie girl on eBay. Today the buyer messaged me to inform me she's going to leave me negative feedback. I was so startled! I had sent the doll in exactly the condition I specified, with everything I said she would be sent with, as well as a free extra shirt.

Turns out, one of the magnets in her head must have popped loose during transit. For those who collect Bobobie dolls I'm sure this isn't a big surprise... this happens a lot. So I replied back to the buyer, letting her know that this is pretty common especially with cheaper resin dolls, and that a little hot glue should do the trick to fixing it.

She then informed me that the doll is also "damaged" because the wig doesn't stay on without a dab of glue or a piece of double-sided tape. Again, I told her this is a common way to affix wigs to dolls, but she is unsatisfied...

Lastly, she complained that the freebie shirt I sent doesn't fit the doll, and this is also cause for leaving negative feedback. It was a freebie--which DOES fit, it just takes a little fiddling to get it over her hands. I've never heard of anyone threatening negative feedback over a freebie before...

Am I wrong in thinking that the head cap magnet is a common issue with Bobobie? Am I losing my mind here? I'm so upset. :(

Aww! *huggles*

Sorry you had to deal with that. Buyer probably is new to dolly stuff and has silly expectations. This is not your fault. Also, keep this in perspective, everybody gets negative feedback once in a while. It's no biggie in the long run.

I effin' LOATH eBay because of this kind of crap. I refuse to sell on there.

It does sound like she's inexperienced with these dolls (I mean, the wig won't stay on... for reals? *facepalm*) I totally understand your frustration. I'd be pissed if I got even a single negative feedback - especially for something I had no control over.

Thanks for the moral support! I tried to explain it all to her gently at first, but I got so frustrated I just gave up. I'm done with eBay, that's for sure.

Do remember that you can put a short reply to any negative feedback you get - something like "buyer new to hobby and expectations way too high". The important thing is not to freak out because of one negative feedback.

I actually stopped sending freebies a very long time ago. People either don't appreciate it or they grumble that it isn't what they want.....

Don't get made at ebay. Get mad at some of the jackholes that use (abuse) it. There will always be people who think "used" means "new", "half price" is too high, and "as is" is a license to complain. You can never put too much information in your description. If they are so unhappy with the purchase, offer to refund their money (less shipping) after the item is returned.

Definitely put a short "new to the hobby" reply. I'm one of the people who look at feedback and read recent negative and neutral posts to make sure it isn't some entitled jerk writing it. If everything else is fine I'll buy from the seller.

Everywhere you sell Captain Fan Dumb and minions will be there trying to drag you down. Listen to Garden Party by Ricky Nelson and remember people are alike all over.

I agree with K2. You could offer to refund the money upon getting the doll back. However, she's still likely to give you netative feedback, because that's just how some people roll......

Well, an update on the situation...

The buyer messaged me to let me know that she finally realized why she couldn't glue the magnet back the way I was explaining. It was because she was gluing it in backwards. Sigh... At least she seems much less irate now?

What a mess though! I don't think I'll be selling on ebay again if I can help it. :/

You might be more comfortable trying to sell things here first. We all know each other somewhat and can be held accountable, and offer helpful information.
