"I believe we've made the right decision," Abe said. "I wish to speak with Micah in the garden room." Abraham placed many wards on the garden room, including a particularly useful ward that cast an aura around a person if they told a lie. "I will ask him about his experiences with Ivan. If his answers meet my approval, he will be released. Head Office hasn't given an answer yet on Foster. Perhaps Micah would shed light on that situation, as well."
"How can you say that Abe? You know what they are, what they do... what they did." Zo squeezed his eyes shut.
Abe said, "The killings continued even though I placed Ivan under my spell so we know it wasn't him."
"We don't know he didn't MAKE the vampire responsible for the murders."
"I'm certain he did not. I do know that he could help us track the real killer. This one has proven to be our most difficult quarry yet."
"It's not right. You trusted Bertrand and he killed four other recruits before staking himself in the heart."
"That is still under investigation," Abraham said.
"We have the blessing from the Head Office. There's nothing more to be said."
"If he joins, I quit."
"I signed on to kill vampires, not buddy up to them."
"If you won't do your job, then I will and to hell with anyone who gets in my way."
