What spooky entertainment are you getting in to this year? Waiting for the annual hour long Monster High toy commercial? Having a slasher movie binge?

This year I finally saw the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, got my own copy of the original Carrie, and I'm suddenly getting in to the Phantom of the Opera. And I sat through 1 1/4 Chucky movies. Time permitted I've got some history of monster and horror movies books I want to read. I suppose the last movie that actually creeped me out was Peacock.

I dislike most of the slasher/gore kinds of movies, however I have to admit to a fondness for very stylish kind of horror in The Abominable Dr. Phibes. I also love 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' from Disney, but I hide my eyes for the tarantula scene. I have a bootleg copy of the Mr. Boogity movies since Disney refuses to release them. (If they ever do, I will buy them because the bootlegs are pretty awful reprints.)

Nothing too extravagant. Baby goes to bed at 6:30 now. We're going to dole out candy until it runs out then probably just watch something on TV. Lazy family days are my favorite.

Penny Dreadful from Showtime. Very fine, very spooky, very true to the Victorian roots.

But otherwise, it's fun having a movie marathon on Halloween. xD I watched Grave Encounters, cackled at the paranormal investigators spoofing at the beginning of the movie, and have to admit some of the visuals in the second half did get kinda spooky after a while. Not a bad movie. Not the best, but not bad.

Also, the movie The Caller was pretty interesting. I always like The Blair Witch Project, and its sequel, Book of Shadows, is my guilty pleasure ("Ya think ya make-up and black clothes gives ya powah?!"). But the courthouse that the kids are all walking out of in the end of the movie is the one just up on the hill from my house! Kinda neat.

Just saw Annabelle the other day, and I admit I jumped at a few scenes. I just thought it was pretty well-done. Also, my mom told me that the REAL Annabelle is actually a Raggedy Anne doll. The directors decided to change her appearance because, ya know, she's pretty common in most households. Heck, I've got a huge one made for my grandmother the year I was born! XD Dunno WHY they changed it, though. I mean, it's a rated R movie, and what (good) parent is going to drag a young child to an R-rated spook movie? Then again, my young nieces were pretty much weaned on horror movies. But not much freaks them out anymore, either. Heck, they watch stuff I'D never want to watch! lol

Anyway, it was a good movie, although I still think Annabelle is the ugliest doll I've ever seen (even before she got beat up), and who would WANT something like that in their house (especially in a baby's nursery), possessed or not? I did like her dress, though. I wanted her dress for my Trinity girls. XD

I can't watch horror/slasher movies because my brain goes on overdrive and I have terrible nightmares, but I can handle supernatural as long as there is no gore.

Same here. I used to love the stuff but since having a baby I can't seem to watch it at all. Maybe it's hormones or the new mommy thing. I no longer have the tolerance for it.

Don't like horror movies much on account of being kept awake by the rush or brain just wants to be an ass in the nightmare department. It makes me try to control my nightmare by fighting back. And yet I still play Resident Evil.

I seen Bride of Chucky and Dollmaster but I'm not keen to see doll related horror movies. Short TV story regarding baby doll in red jumper (a couple of scenes only) only added on to my aversion of young/baby dolls on account of receiving such a gift when I was a kid and being scared of it. So I don't really like the negative effect scary dolls have on my hobby.

It took hanging around this and the JS board to come to terms that Big Obitsu(Thank you Hazel) are bigger version of my 1/6 Obitsu and its okay to have a big doll, and my doll is not suppose to harm me. Humanish child like 1/6 is still off limits though (Spritely and anthros are okay, go figure)

Final Destination is awesome though. very jumpy. Dollmaster is more towards creepy and kinda worth watching. So far I only read earlier Stephen King books for horror.
