My Doll Dream Dashed!

Postby kenaiqueen » Wed Oct 08, 2014 12:50 pm

I'm so frellin' bummed! I had the blue Disney LE Aurora in my cart last night and when I tried to check out they said she was sold out. In less than 10 minutes. I could just scream. I did check out with Malificent, but this morning I decided I would not enjoy her and called Disney Store to cancel the order. I would only think about having missed not one but 2 of the LE Aurora dolls, mostly to scalpers on ebay I think and I will NOT pay those prices. So I'm bummed.

Add in impending birthday which I hate, on meds because my GERD is acting up and the doc took me off sugar *sob*! (I know it's for my own good, but not enough chocolate to console me is torture this morning.) And I have to go back to the doc this afternoon because for apparently no reason one of my eyelids is swollen and every eye doc in the area is at a big conference. I'm really low today. I would go back to bed to enjoy Misty's latest book, but I have to start that dang Halloween costume.

I could use some awws and some commiserating stories about other's having lost their chance at a grail doll so I don't feel so all alone.

:hugs: Oh, I'm so sorry Kenaiqueen-san!!

I've actually been refreshing all day wondering when Aurora and Maleficent would show up!
I stayed up till 12:45AM last night and none of the three were available yet.

Then I set my alarm clock for every hour and at 3:45 AM, I saw Phillip then, so I grabbed him and checked out.

Up to now, I thought they didn't even POST Aurora and Maleficent yet! Till I read your post and thought, "WHOA! I completely missed them?!?!" But I woke up every hour! How could it be?!
What time did they appear?

I had planned to buy another Aurora (blue) and then I would resell the Pink Aurora I bought on eBay. (At an exorbitant price.) I am still considering remaking the gown in purples and then reselling the pink dress. Not sure if I'll do that since she's a LE doll but I've done it before with other LE dolls, so I really don't have that many qualms about doing it. (And I really don't like her in pink! :laughs: )

Anyway, :hugs: and I'm so sorry you didn't get her! :hugs: I know how that feels (happened to me with the Designer Aurora doll) and it's just awful! Why doesn't Disney make more of the dolls? Do they want all their LE dolls to be so hard to buy? It's a shame!

Let's cry together!

I'm sorry you missed her too. She came online at 12 midnight Pacific time, which was 11 for me in AK and sold out in about 10 minutes. At least you got the pink. Maybe someone would trade with you. I did manage to get the Designer Princess Aurora and Pocohontas and I'm going to foolishly try for the Fairy Tale Aurora & Phillip when they come out later this month.

I preferred the pink dress but was willing to settle for blue. However, if you do sell the pink dress, do let me know. I see no reason not to re-dress her the way you want to.

I'm so ashamed. I caved. I bought a pink Aurora off evilbay. I'm pretty sure the seller was not a professional scalper so there is that. The one I got has a damaged box which is why she was selling it. Average price. I'm trying for the fairytale Phillip and Briar Rose tonight. Fingers crossed!

And I have the Fairytale set too now. I feel better, but my eye still hurts.

You'll get over it. I bemoaned the prices I paid for a couple of dolls at the time, got over it, and now I just enjoy them. Damaged box got me a discount on my Phantom and aside from when we moved he's never been back in it.

Why regret something you once wanted?

Wise words, grasshopper. :D I hope I won't have any bad feelings attached when they finally do arrive. I guess if I can't get over it, I just sell them.

BTW, just got tracking info from Disney and the fairytale set is due to be delivered on the birthday, so I have something nice to look forward to.

Just something I saw on Cheezburger that I felt was worth writing down. Look forward to all the good things, waiting for them to come, the delivery, opening, enjoying. All the joy Sleeping Beauty brings to you.

Coming on a birthday or holiday or some other significant day is a sign. My Xavier had to come on Halloween. In the middle of a gloomy time the right Monster High came in on Friday 13th.

My Fairytale couple set arrived today and it's gorgeous!

I'm very happy with the set even tho I still wish they had opted to do rooted hair on the guys.

I should be getting the pink Aurora from ebay in the next day or two and the matching Prince from the Disney store next week. I'm still annoyed about having to pay so much and I'm also unreasonably annoyed at someone who posted on the Disney doll FB page claiming only real true collectors wanted Aurora in blue. I kept my mouth shut but I so wanted to shut that twerp down. I was about 7 when that movie came out and she's always been my favorite Disney Princess. I prefer her in pink altho I do like her in purple too. (Apparently even tho I have grown old, I still haven't grown up LOL! )

They're here!

And they are huge and the boxes take up a whole lotta room. Since her's is broken anyway and won't protect her from the dust, I will probably de-box the both of them and find some room on a shelf for them. So far, I'm amazed by all the detail in their outfits and trying not to think about how much more I had to pay for her.
