Wow, that's great, werepuppy, you're almost half way! I'm hoping to reach 20k this weekend, fingers crossed.

I've been NaNoWriMo-ing it for the past three years now, but I've been cheating and just continuing the same ridiculously long story (that seriously needs to be chopped down and edited)...

This year, though, I haven't started yet, because I FINALLY figured out how to get my tablet to work (pen pressure sensitivity, ye gods be praised). So I've... been obsessively arting, instead.

HOWEVER. Just because I'm going to be errrr a week behind doesn't mean I still can't uuuuuh try to catch up... _xD As long as the... tablet doesn't get in the way...

First week (and then some) is over! How is everyone doing? Meeting your word count? Run out of steam?

I'm almost half way, but most everything I've written in the last few days is filler. I've gotten to the complication way too early and I don't know how else to get this story to 50k. Still I think I can do it, I just have to go back and work a couple extra pages in here and there, maybe fill out a few background characters a bit more. One character has already been bumped up to A Real Person from the original casual encounter, so who knows.

Good luck, everybody! Just keep writing...

My story is Part Two of the Historical Romance that I started last year. This year was supposed to be Parthena's story, but characters are taking over again. I added a new introduction this week. i am still behind on word count- still under 12k, due to a migraine last week. But, we have our night of scribbling coming up Saturday night. I should get to 25k by Sunday and I have the last week of the month off for Thanksgiving. It has saved me many times. :)

Oh yeah, Thanksgiving weekend is usually when I pull up from "underdog" status.

I wish I could write when it was called for. Earlier this year I typed out 50 pages of a draft and rounded up and refined a bunch of beat sheets.

I've tried to start a few things but they don't want to go anywhere right now. I can get ideas and start things well enough but a lot of stories end up not quite being finished.

After being behind by two full weeks, I've written up 13k words this weekend. I need to hit the 26k mark in the next couple of days at least if I want to "catch up" by my own standards.

All part of the challenge, hmmmm.... :geek:

I think the best way to write up a NaNoWriMo novel is to brainstorm and plan an outline of your story first so that you know how it starts, where it goes, and how it ends. Then it's just a matter of writing out each "scene" as long as you know where you're going.

I ended up cold starting this year, but next year I plan on doing a full outline and everything, though I may just pick a month to do a personal WriMo instead. The inspiration for this month came 200 words in to a different idea, so I'm improving it. XD So far it's the best I've done in all of the seven years I've attempted NaNo: 34k and no signs of stopping! I'm pretty happy. ^_^

I never know how most of them will end when I start. Had I stuck to a tight plan with one story it would only be half as long and never got to a twist character and the newest jaunt it's on. Then there's the one I know how I want it to end but it has several middles.

Finally I got around to collaging inspirational images and writing bits and pieces of stories around them. Any writing is good writing.
