Buying From Spain?

I'm not sure how many of you recall the nightmare I went through a few years ago when I purchased one of my grail dolls, a CP/Delf MNF ShuShu elf from a DOA seller in Spain, but suffice it to say that it took the better part of 2 months to get her and I was nearly in a full blown panic over it. Apparently she spent a good portion of that time in US Customs.

Now I'm seriously interested in a MNF head and the seller is also in Spain. Unless I use EMS I can't get insurance and that would cost nearly as much as the doll head itself.

Has anyone here bought from a seller in Spain and what was your experience? Was my experience the exception to the rule or is it typical? I know selling to Spain or Italy is a mess because of their own Customs and mailing services, but what about the other way around?
