I think the largest Breyer horses are 1/9. So Sage should definitely be taller than them. He's not quite in scale with standard 1/6 dolls though, phooey. I want to see a Friesian Sage! *.*

70 cm would be quite the horse indeed. Can you imagine the shipping rates on that?! I think my head is spinning...
For the smaller mini Ivans, maybe some of the 18 inch doll horses would work? They don't look very realistic, but they are still horsehs! ;)

I want Sage, but even if I saved up the money for him, the shipping and duties for Canada would be nightmarish! Sniff. I hope someone from this forum gets one (so I can drool all over my keyboard from the owner pictures and have dreams of horse dolliehs dancing in my head)!
For now the best solution is mission: Must find horsieh dollieh makers within own country.

The large Battat horses look fabulous with 1:4 scale dolls.

Canada's shipping and duties really suck. It cost me a silly sum of money to send a swap gift up there, once.

I could go take some scale pictures for everyone and size up various horse options.

EDIT: Here's a picture of four Ivans and a few horses. Sorry it is so washed out. Every picture I took looks like that. /sigh.

The Battatt is huuuuge compared to the Breyer. Hey, it's a Friesian, too.

Friesians and Gypsy Vanners are my favorite horses of all time. It's the fluffy feet.

Ooh, it is awesome to hear the Battat horses look good with 1/4 scale! I've heard that My Twinn makes horses too, and those dolls are 23" play dolls, so I wonder if those horses would be getting close to proper 1/3 scale size? Not sure how they'd look though.

Yeah, Canadian shipping and duties are not cheap. Canada Post is at least reliable, if sometimes definitely slow, and I've never had a package get lost by them, but it's still expensive. We're a sparsely populated large country so I get that shipping would cost more, but maybe not that much more. >.< And duties for Canada are just plain terrible. Terrible!
Alright, back on topic now...

Ivan looks awesome! You can't blame him for being washed out in photos with that effervescent snow white complexion. ;)

That Battat horse looks awesome! I love the face sculpt! And fluffy footed horses are pretty hard to beat. My uncle used to take us for sleigh rides on New Years Day, and he had two huge black horses with fluffy feet and braided manes who would pull the sleigh. I can't remember what breed they were, but they were really nice, even if they scared me a little just because of how huge they were. They were siblings. Did I mention they were huge?

Your ginormous black horsies sound like Friesians. Big horses are usually very sweet and easy going. Like dogs different horses and ponies are bread for different reasons.

Gigantic black horsey mystery is solved. According to someone who knows they are Percherons. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percheron
My uncle's head was below the horses' shoulders. They are biiiig horsies. And friendly. :)
Sage's shape looks kind of like a Percheron, come to think of it. And he comes in black...

Step away from the keyboard, Wispalian. Away from the keyboard.

Ooh, I did some more reading and apparently any Sages ordered before February 1st will come with a saddle, so 1/6 scale dolls can ride them. And they are going to release some more 1/6 horse supplies in January. Good thing I don't have any dolls to ride him! 8-)
