Wilde Imagination Patience

Here's the latest addition to my dolly family, a Wilde Imagination Patience:
Image
This is the 'Perfect Patience' model and her wig is supposed to be non-removable, but wouldn't be the first time I took one of those off. However, I think it suits her, so it will stay... for now. ;) She is 14" tall and her head is much bigger than her body, making her much like the Blythe dolls which I'm sure Robert Tonner had in mind when he made her. (Mods, I'm only guessing she goes here...please move if it's not the right place.)

She was such a good price, I was also able to buy an outfit for her. It's a pale pink coat dress with boots and a fuzzy hat that has teddy ears. I haven't tried it on her yet, but I'll post a pic when I do. I'm not sure how much sewing I'll be doing for her. I guess that will depend on how much she speaks to me.

I have to admit, when I first saw this line, it wasn't love at first sight. However, the first one that was released (Garden Patience) had the look/coloring/face that reminded me much of my godchild/niece who was killed in a car accident when she was only 23. Melissa used to cock her head and look sideways at you and she's that way in so many of the pictures I have of her. So I'm going to name this girl Melissa in her honor.

Has anyone else picked up one of these cuties?

Aww, that's so sweet. I've never seen one before. That outfit is very cute though. I like the matching ribbons in her hair.

Pictures of her coat outfit:

She is saying "I wonder when Mom is going to open this. I could use a smoothie."

Here she is side-eyeing EverAfter High's Cupid Thronecoming:

And finally, a shot of the dress under the coat:

Everyone as underwhelmed as I am? It looks more like a nightgown to me. I'm going to add some lace and some ribbon and some of those ribbon flowers like the coat has and see if I can't make it more like a dress. I love the boots tho. She's not a great poser....too top heavy. I will need to get her a stand that actually holds her in place.

It wasn't love at first sight for me with Patience either, but that outfit and hair combination is great! Though the dress under the coat outfit is really rather sad-looking. Am I wrong in thinking that a sold-separately outfit should be more detailed than that? The coat is really cute though! It even looks like it might survive a subarctic winter. Maybe. ;)

Will you be posting photos when you get your Ghastly? I'm so curious about that new sculpt. I love the skin tone, but the face looks somehow...off to me.

I agree that dress should have been better for the price they were asking originally. And yes, I'll post Angelique when I get her. Actually, her face was more attractive to me than the rest of the Ghastly line. They all seem too sharp and pointy to me.

I'm glad you got the dress and coat on sale. ;)

I can see finding the other Ghastly faces too sharply angular, definitely. I personally don't like Parnilla for that reason; her face just leans a little too far over the caricatured edge for me. I really love Evangeline's face though.

I am generally really excited about new face molds, but for some lines that start themed around one character with one face sculpt I sometimes feel like the subsequent 'friends' that are introduced have less thought put into their sculpts. That's definitely not the case very often, but sometimes I think simple is better for certain lines. Evangeline Ghastly is a line that drifts into that for me. I once saw some really old concept art for the Ghastly line, and it showed Evangeline with long black hair, wearing a red dress and, oddly enough, a honey skin tone. That made me desperate to see an Evangeline made in a honey vinyl. I almost wish Wilde had made dolls available with the Evangeline sculpt in all sorts of different skin colours in addition to different hair and eye colours, and had the Evangeline line be more like a face sculpt with a certain aesthetic but different colouring options, rather than a specific character. They change her hair and eye colours with every release, so in theory, changing her skin tone for different versions isn't any less possible, right? ;)

Anyways, your Patience is adorable and I'm looking really forward to seeing your Angelique! I'm kind of thinking the reason I didn't like her promo photos is her eyes may be a little wonky in them. Actually, looking at the photo now, her eyes are really wonky. No wonder her mold looked "off" to me!
