Some fashion doll ID help?

Postby WhiteDove01s » Thu Jan 01, 2015 6:08 am

Apparently I had my last splurge of the year... XD I got a lot of dolls off ebay. They haven't arrived yet, but I just had to work out the budget (and make a deal with the Evil Overlord) to get them as the price per doll came to a little over $2 each and... the lot contains a Ken with jointed knees and waist!

Now, a lot of the others I don't really recognize except that I know some are barbies, one or two might be disney princesses, and one is a mary-kate-or-ashley doll.... can anyone help out here?

Sorry, the picture is too small to be of any help at all and once an item is ended you can't see the original listing. Better ask again once you get the dolls and can post individual pictures.

Oh, sorry. I can still see the zoomed in and other pics, maybe because I'm the buyer? I didn't realize Ebay kept others from seeing them. Maybe I could try saving the bigger images from the listing since it'll still let me at em?

I have determined (after a browser reboot) that the reason I still had access to the larger images was due to them still being in browser cache from last night. However, before the reboot, I DID manage to save the other images. I don't know how much help they'll be, and hopefully the mess of pics won't break anything, but let's see. XD Some, I know are barbies, and I really don't need more ID than that kind of level. But there are some confusing ones...

Image
Going from right to left, which is odd but so am I... XD
I know the rightmost one is a twist waist barbie.
The next one over I think is some kind of cheap knockoff. She just has that subtly off look.
The one next to her... I don't know what she is but something looks irritatingly vaguely familiar. She's actually the one who prompted me to ask in the first place.

Image
Now, with this clump of four, I'm 99% sure the two in the back and the redhead are all barbies. Possibly all bellybutton but can't be sure on the redhead since she's dressed.
The other one has something of an odd face tho, even tho her body looks like a bellybutton barbie.
And I'm thinking and half-hoping the one on the right in the back might be a bellybutton era Skipper. I don't have one yet.

Image
And right to left again, there's a Ken with KNEES! And a waist! His hip looks shaped really weird, but it's hard plastic so can't be broken... And the pic cuts off the top of his head but, trust me, someone needs a reroot...
Next to him is the Mary-Kate-or-Ashley doll

Image
Ok, the rightmost one with the permanent plastic clothes and the girl looking over her shoulder are the ones I suspect might be disney? I thought the clothes on most of those came off tho.
The girl with the purple hair is a barbie mermaid.
The next girl over I'm pretty sure is another cheap knockoff.
And I'm not sure about the one on the end. Like the questionable one in that group of four her face doesn't look quite right for a barbie but she doesn't have the junky look of the two that I'm pretty sure are knockoffs.

The two ones you think are disney are in fact Disney Princesses. The one with the molded on clothing is a Cinderella. They make ballerina versions with permanent tops like that. The one looking over her shoulder is Rapunzel.

Thanks!

... I'd better break out the conditioner bottle, I have a feeling that's going to be a mess of tangles when she arrives. XD

The mystery one in the first photo, tan skin rounded hips, might be High School Musical or some other Disney Channel license. They had several dolls who were smaller than Barbie.

No, it's definitely a Fairytopia related doll with the arm sculpt and bigger than Barbie feet, theres just some with smaller bodies for some unknown reason.

The vaguely almost but not quite knock off looking dolls in the first and last groups was from Mattel's 'hobbit body' phase at the tail end of the Fashion Fever days where Barbie had a stumpy looking body and a different headsculpt for some reason.

And yeah, that Ken has the 1999 articulated Ken body where he's jointed at the knees, wast and elbows but no wrist or ankle joints.

I've heard of Fairytopia and seen a couple pics here and there but never looked into them much. That would definitely explain the deja-vu-ish mental nagging.

And hobbits! I completely forgot about the hobbit body! It gets mentioned so little and I don't have one yet... or didn't. I'm getting happier and happier than I splurged on this box!

And, when it comes to Ken, while I will miss the wrist joints (I have never seen one with ankles), I am happy to trade them for a waist and knees. Spotting that he had knees was the reason I jumped on the lot in the first place, and I didn't even notice he had a waist too until after I'd bought the lot. Glad to know he has elbows too... couldn't tell with him buried under a pile of girls. XD This Ken might actually make it to my character shelf instead of my 'unnamed dollies to sew for' section. Only poseables allowed there.

Oh, I managed to ID the mermaid further on my own. She's a Mermaid Fantasy Christie (Barbie), and apparently has a couple little mechanical gimmicks to make her swim. The Evil Overload has called dibs on her for her part in obtaining the lot, tho I still get to take measurements and sew for her.
