Lammily

Postby Samseramsamsam » Mon Jan 05, 2015 2:06 pm

My Lammily doll arrived today. I think I will call her Agnes ;) (as "Lamm" means lamb in German XD)
Clothing will be a bit of a hassle, but I like a knitting challenge ;)
Here the original clothes upon arrival
Image

A shirt for Ellowyne would make a nice dress - but a bit too wide

I still had a sweater lying around that turned out too big for my Makie - that fits quite nicely :) And hat and scarf from the Barbie box also fit

However, I am spoiled by the Obitsu motion range. Lammily really seems rather stiff to me. Ellbows and knees have bendable joints (2 "clicks" only), and thought the feet are nicely moveable, the joint seems rather frail.

Do any of you have made some clothes for Lammily dolls? I would love to see your pictures! :)

Your Lammily is adorable!! Mine is named Afanen (Welsh for "raspberry" haha). I am failing a lot at making clothes for her- yours are gorgeous! I sew; I'm a terrible knitter/crocheter.

I was able to squeeze a sweatshirt made for Pullip on her, but it was sort of a 3/4 sleeve borderline bellyshirt situation. I'm trying to figure out a pattern- I've read that Ken shirts at least can fit her, so I'm thinking of trying it out if I can get my hands on some.

I had to lol a bit at Agnes knitwear+shorts combo, but at least half of her is warm! :) She would probably look good in that kind of dress in a tailor-made (as it were) version. Homemade clotes are probably the way to go for her unusual size/shape.

Was the shipping expensive?

Patience, ye, Agnes will get a nice skirt, or maybe some dresses, eventually ;) I think I have figured out that her circumference is 9-10 st x4 on 2.5 mm needles, but I still have to verify that. For trousers/skirts etc., I would start with 40 stitches and go from there (increases for her butt will be in order, maybe short rows...*plotting and pondering*). 40 st. on 2.5 DPN (4-ply fingering yarn) just goes over her, ahem... generous behind ;)

Oooh I did not think to try Ken clothes on her; will have to make a dive into the cellar of borderline messitude (TM) this weekend

Wow, Pullip is what I go to for some Monster Highs, I am in awe that you got her squeezed in there, hyssop

She shipping wasn't THAT bad; they take USD 12,95 for international shipping. AND I was lucky enough that she got through customs just like that, no import tax  (My order from parabox had to be collected from the customs office... granted, that was a bit more value, but not that much more.)

13$ for shipping is really good, I was expecting maybe twice as much. Now I'm tempted to get a couple of those sticker sets. (Customs can be a bit of a gamble here too. :) )

You might want to google for pictures first; it is always personal preference, but imho these stickers are very poorly done and you will always have an outline of the "clear" sticker around the pimples etc. (pictures online were the reason I did not order the sticker sets ^^")

i've heard complaints a plenty over this doll's ankle pegs, and their contribution to the dolls' instability in standing.

perhaps it would be worthwhile to try a variation of the electrical tape-wrapped-around-the-neck-post trick
i use with doll heads that otherwise don't quite mate to even the thickest OBITSU neck post
as snug and firm as i would prefer? No Wobbly Heads allowed in My Harem!!!

this technique works for me beautifully, every time, so i cannot fathom why a similar method
wouldn't firm up this Lammily girl's iffy ankles at least as effectively...

Thanks for this! Her ankles are ridiculously floppy. I made Ugg-type boots for her out of felt that keep her upright  but it would be nice to get her standing without them!

Maybe try what people use to fix loose swivel joints. It may help with stabilizing Lammily's ankles.

Yeah, I saw the photos. I mosly just want the stickers for the weirdness factor, i.e. not enough to justify the usual $20+ in shipping costs. :) If I wanted to give my dolls acne or tattoos I'd probably just try and paint them on (although I'm not sure how that would work on the soft rubber surface of click-joint limbs).
