The chemical burn is actually caused by an air pocket during the pouring process. A bit of air gets trapped between the layers of the plastic and when cured they tend to peel of because the layers never bonded properly. Still, Linainversetsg, is right about keeping an eye on it. The peeling tends to spread if handled too much.

that makes sense. i wonder if careful trimming of edge of area with exacto knife to remove any bits already separated would help keep it from causing the sub-layer split in the vinyl from continuing. maybe a layer of sealant when I get it. might even take advantage, add a little pink/white paint and actually make it look more like a scar, with a bit of story behind it. plus 'decorating' will help me spot it easy and remind not to touch often.

sorry for lack of shift. very cold here. cat decided i am warmest spot in house, asleep on lap last 3 hours. can't reach shift key.

I don't think it could hurt to try. Sealing it might just bond the loose layers together a bit. Besides, a Barbie with a scar sound awesome.

The sealant was ordered from Amazon a couple days ago, and should be here in a week at most, I hope. And then I will be making Summer's 'burn scar' look like, well, what it looks like. XD

I've already swapped her original head onto a LIV body (I liked the sculpt, and think I can ooak it into a passable Hermione), and she now has a head from a redheaded Fashionista who had the same skin tone. I'm going to de-grin the face soon and change a few other details about the makeup. And, apparently, calling her Summer has stuck...

I wonder if I should worry that the dolls for my 'sewing models' section are starting to aquire names. The stripey-haired one from this lot has ended up named 'Candy' ('cos she looks like she has pink candy cane hair), and the 'glue-headed' hobbit is now 'April' (the feathered hack-job I did to her hair makes me think of a blond version of April O'Neil from the OLD Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon). Most of the ones there I just use the names that were on the boxes, but I guess something had to happen where all the 'barbies' were concerned. They can't all be called the same thing...

Her body is just a basic 1999 bellybutton Barbie, but the oddity here is her head. She has a tiny head for a barbie.

Not just tiny for bellybutton era, but even tinier than the twist-waist girl's head, as shown in the picture. She also has rather oddly colored eyes and stripy hair. I don't know what she's supposed to be (I'm still sure she's pretty much just a bellybutton barbie, maybe from just before they decided to make em all bobbleheaded), but I do like the tinier head... She may just win the Bellybutton spot on my 'unnamed models' shelf. (note: I do think I have another Barbie head or two laying around that seemed smaller than normal, but this girl's seems even a smidge tinier than that!)...

Do you have a nape date for that head?

1998 could be a Generation Girl. I have a Chelsie from that era who has a smallish head.
