This reminds me of this particular picture I took of my little guy. He was two weeks old in this one I think?

Micah does not appear very happy in this picture. Did he think he was being asked to babysit?

It should be mentioned that one of Trethowan's dolls is receiving hand me downs from her baby.
Coincidence or clever planning?

I was carrying one of my 70 DZ twins and someone went in to a loud tirade about me not feeding my baby until I changed his position to show he was a doll. If you have realistic eyes in a larger doll babies and toddler might interact with it. I am in no situation what so ever to be in charge of any sort of baby.

My smother has ended up with the reborn life sized baby doll because she kept saying she wanted to carry it around and make stuff for it. Guess what lives in a box in her closet now That could be a doll solution to all these people wanting grand kids, if they don't want a small dog.

It is amazing how the people who are closest (or should be) to us are the ones who understand us the least.

I've disliked kids since I was one. People always told me I'd want kids later, but years passed and I still didn't want them. I was happy to be child-free up until I got married. Then I felt a huge amount of pressure to start a family. It was a difficult time for me. I thought I'd be a failure as a human being if I didn't woman up and procreate. I dreaded the thought of my parents being disappointed in me. I'd interact with children and couldn't stand them, but I'd still be conflicted on the inside.

Fortunately, I've finally gotten past that. It was a phase, I'm free of it. People have stopped asking me and m hubby when we're going to have kids. My mom calls our cat her grandcat. I take that as her way of accepting our decision. And my older sister had kids, so they're not going completely without. My husband helped me through the rough times, as he always does. I'm very lucky to have him.

Through all this, the dolls never came into play, or had anything to do with my feelings about children. I don't have any dolls who are children. They are all grown up, big headed or not, lol!

Megadittos!! I'm childfree and have been since 1956! Yes, Nineteen FIFTY-six.... When people asked me, as a child "Wouldn't you like a brother or sister?" I replied "No, Sir (or Ma'am) I don't like children."

Man THAT rocked grown-ups off their feet! Heh heh... still does

Luckily, I didn't had similar experiences (at least for now...) but my mother sometimes say "well, you didn't played with dolls as a child, I supposed you have to make for it now"...
Dolls for me are an additional, powerful way to express myself. If they are a surrogate for anything, it is only for cosplay. Stop.
I confess, I have ambivalent feeling toward children at this point of my life. I love big families, I started to find newborns cute, I don't feel other people children as an harassment (only if they are really rude, but usually is their parent's fault -_-) and I always thought about having some, but on the other side after starting to live with my hubby, really away from my family and my full time job I'm suffering a lot from lacking free time and I fear to not be able to manage being responsible for a child, having a job and care for an house and an husband that is in the military police and is often busy and away. So, at least for now, children are only a (remote) possibility.
