I kind of like delias head on irmas body. I dont think Irma is a doll head I could own. I like odd things but she is a bit too creepy for me. Definitely interesting to look at though. DC is pretty awesome at bringing out the beautiful and bizarre in their dolls.

It has a horror-story quality. *shivers* That thing creeps me out every time I look at it.

I love this doll, as I do most creepy dolls. But I posted a link to Doll Chateau on Facebook as part of a fun discussion of scary dolls and they got shot down as "horrible" and "women-hating". Do they seem that way to you guys? I feel so bad, I'm on the verge of tears!

waaaaah? That makes NO sense to me. They're fantasy dolls. They're supposed to be all manner of magical, creepy, odd, unique, beautiful, otherworldly, etc. Sure, the one I posted has a horrible little face, in a creepy sort of way, and I like to poke gentle fun at it (it's going to kill me in my sleep) but how anyone derives misogyny out of DC's designs is a mystery. You know, some folks are just hyper-sensitive over womens' issues to the point that they're obsessed with it. They're going to find misogyny in everything because it's all they ever think about. Instead of rose-colored glasses, they wear misogyny-colored classes. What a sad way to view the world, eh? I wouldn't be the least worried about their comments, certainly don't let it make you cry. That's just one more opinion to add to the opinions-on-the-internet pile, but there you have it all the same.

Right? Thank you, Trethowen! What really puzzles me is that this was among a Sci-Fi/ Fantasy fan group. I was thinking, well, H.R. Gieger and stuff... I do consider myself a feminist, but I just wondered if I missed something truly, offensively misogynistic in the themes of Doll Chateau. Thanks for listening!

I could get in to a why it's acceptable in our culture for one gender to do something but not the other discussion, especially since I watched a video of something that if it was reversed would open a whole can of worms.

The average person I've run in to while I'm out with one of my big dolls still call them "she" even if it's a boy with short hair wearing a suit. I think someone pointing out what they see in a doll says more things about them then the doll. Now that it's been pointed out the Piranha resemblance comes to me first followed by a doll I wouldn't personally want to buy. Maybe if she embraced her inner fishiness I might like her better.

Piranha mermaid, Now that would make more sense to me than the nasty deertaur version style wise. I still won't buy her since I don't have a fish character.

Ooh, I'd love to see that head on a creepy mermaid, her mouth looks like there's some kind of toothy suckerfish leech thing going on. Still though, she's just so cool. She's got a sort of creeptastic elegance. I wish though that she had joints above those lovely hooves. Would provide some more graceful posing.

I don't think I'd ever been on that site before but I think I'm going to be spending so much time there now...
