Anyone use polymer clay smoothing oil?

You did WHAT? WHERE?? HOW??? Share the knowledge or explain once again why we use chalk pastels and not oils.

Anyone use polymer clay smoothing oil?

Postby DollyKim » Sat Mar 14, 2015 5:42 am

I've had a few books talk about smoothing or blending oil with polymer clay but I haven't personally used any. What is it about? Is it the same as the conditioning oil for the clay? Does it help add raw to cure without visible lines?

I've heard of using the conditioning oil to smooth out fingerprints, like the Sculpy Softener I have, but I haven't personally tried that yet.

I've also read you can use baby oil or mineral oil to smooth the clay as well. However, I've more often heard and have used rubbing alcohol to smooth polymer clay before baking. ^_^
