New line of dolls

Postby ShortNCuddlyAm » Fri Aug 07, 2015 11:42 am

Just came across this - a new line of dolls called Project Mc², 4 dolls, each one focussing on an aspect of STEM. And not only that, the dolls have different face sculpts and apparently slightly different heights. Link to the article - I'm off to find more info!

And poseable... now have to hope they're not too expensive...

ToysRUs (US) seem to have them listed already at $14.99 for just the doll or $24.99 with the experiment kit.

They're all listed as being 11.75" tall, but there are pics that show there is definitely some variation - see below

Too bad the $15 dolls look like they have less articulation. :?

I love Bryden especially, she's so pretty. Plus you get to make your own glow stick, totally justifies spending more money on dolls... :D

I hadn't noticed that, but yeah - you're right. The more expensive ones have obvious joints, the cheaper ones don't. I'm guessing they have click legs maybe and solid arms? That seems particularly daft.

these are all so cute! I like the idea behind them. Seems like it would be neat if playscale types offered on the American markets adopted a BJD-inspired jointing system.

I love how these look. There are some gripes I have with the line (of course) but I'm so hoping they're nice quality because the concept of them is just so awesome in so many ways. This person got some and took beautiful photos of them, but it looks like they had some quality control issues with them, which concerns me: https://www.flickr.com/photos/27292654@ ... 5614286310
Still remaining hopeful! So far these are only available in Maple Syrup Country at sears.ca (or amazon.ca, but the listings are really weird looking despite being official and won't ship for at least a month...) and they only have two of the girls; they're $36.99 for the articulated ones with the experiments. :S Hopefully they'll be less elsewhere but I honestly doubt it. Oh well, they're worth it more than the $40 for the newest MH Boo York dolls.

And yep, suckily the basic ones in pajamas only have five points of articulation, I think. I know the arms are straight. So that makes them an automatic 'no' for me. :/

Trethowan--I will rejoice the day a Western play doll has BJD-like posing.
Actually, was Liv kind of like that?

New life goal: somehow convince Obitsu to make a widely available in-store play doll line with multiple skin tones. 'Cause that's so going to happen. 8-)

I just checked. Amazon.com has them for 24.99 each with the experiment kits. I've slapped them on my wish list to hope they're still around by my birthday next May. (The only times I sometimes manage to scrape up $100 splurges is xmas and birthday, and this xmas I've already got my mind set on trying to grab a pregnant Midge off Ebay)
