Great suggestion!!! It's funny, I had been inquiring to an eBay seller about a loose head they are auctioning--if it's black hair or dark brown hair. Turns out, the head is your Princess of the Portugese doll!

The mold is right, the skintone seems about right, but.....the seller says the hair is dark brown, so....

I wonder if it will do?

Wow!! :) Thanks for all your help, VV-sama!!! I really appreciate your efforts!!
Only thing is, I forgot to mention her skintone needs to be pale or NS, not tan, so I can't use the Native American dolls.

Too bad, because they are really otherwise perfect!!!!! :)

Ooh, good suggestion! Let me check.....

....I just looked it up and it seems her hair dark brown:

What a shame! Almost!!! :)
Thanks for the idea!! If you think of any others, please let me know? :)

My H2BS blue looks jet black in person. (It was my first thought, too.)

Does it really look black and not brown (The auction photos really look brown, but maybe the photos are deceiving?) I wonder if it will do for a 'black haired' character......

Looking at her hair again, it looks like [very dark] black coffee-colored. :geek:

Is her skintone 'tan'? That seems to be the main problem---all the jet black haired Barbies are dark tanned/ethnic. I can't believe that Mattel never made a NS/pale Barbie with black hair!!

I'm making a Spiderwoman custom doll for a customer, and her hair is jet black. I had already made this same custom doll for another customer about 10 years ago, but he had provided his own doll---a jet black haired Barbie with pale/NS skin:

I didn't think anything of it at the time---I figured there were just black haired Barbies, but now I'm wondering if he had rerooted that Barbie? I mean, I can't find any jet black haired Barbies like that one anywhere---and you guys are so thorough, you wouldn't all miss her, too! :?

Ahhhhh.......Hmmm, I wonder if that's 'good enough' for a Spiderwoman doll?

HTBS would make a good Spider Woman. Her skin is pale. I had one, I don't think her hair was jet black but it was quite dark.

The India Barbie I have matches the 100 poses bodies that came out a few years ago, she's in the Theresa-Asian range but not quite light AA. I was going to suggest the Barbie loves Elvis pink label in the gold suit, with a jointed body, but she's a bit $$.

THIS is where I go for AA and (when necessary) Caucasian arti-bodies. I seek out arti-Esmeralda and arti-Mulan for tans and Orientals.

(I just scored an arti-Mulan this weekend...!)

Have you checked out the Zodiac Barbies? There might be one of them that will work.

Yeah, I checked them first and while Scorpio would work (which, incidentally would be neat to have her dress since I'm Scorpio), the buyer wants the 'open mouth' face and all the Zodiac gals have the closed mouth look.

But good thought!!! I still can't believe Mattel never made a jet black haired NS Barbie with that common smiling face!!!
