It makes me wonder how in the world Spinmaster made great jointed dolls with their Liv and Jakks Pacific with their Juku but Mattel keeps screwing it up. When the first gymnasts and ballerinas came out I was excited just to get one. The gymnast Stacy and friends are great. My favorite guy was skate date Ken until the 1999 body came out. When there was a huge sale on the 100 Poses I went crazy and rebodied most of my old TnTs because it was the best body I felt they'd ever make. Guys who can get the 1999.

On the other hand, both Liv and Juku Couture are discontinued, so you may be right about articulation not being profitable. But on the OTHER other hand, Monster High is selling well and they've got decent articulation, and the 18'' dolls have even better. Actually, wonder if their success affected the decision to develop this body?

Gymnast Stacie seems to have pretty good articulation, eapecially for a tiny doll.

I think I just tend to assume that at some point, doll production and quality will improve to the point that consumers will expect dolls to be fully articulated. But that's mostly based on my doll preferences without taking actual economical factors into account.

Looks like they can do Lotus position and the limbs come apart at the rotating thigh/upper arm joint.

If their neck posts are compatible, they will get new heads even if not officially. I don't think anybody will wait for that.

I assume/hope the Made to Move dolls will have the same skin tones as the latest Barbie dolls (which seem fairly diverse and may be the ones Oprah was referring to?) which is of course great news for rebodiers. I really hope the AA girl makes it to my country since darker articulated bodies are harder to find.

Getting Barbie's head off is a lot easier if you heat it. I usually dunk them in a cup of hot water, inside a plastic bag if I'm worried about messing up the hair. But I'm no expert and I've still managed to crack a neck or two. Studio 126's method seems safer than some of my attempts.

I tend to use dry heat for head removal instead, less messy. Either a hair dryer that I actually got specifically for drying paint and removing doll heads, or this time of year holding them about 2-3 inches from the space heater and counting to 40... So far I've had pretty good luck with leaving neck pegs intact.

I've already added these new ones to my wishlists, as 'posable cheap vinyl' has pretty much become my niche in the hobby.

I use the hot water method to remove heads. However a heating pad does a good job too.

Amazon is starting to carry the dolls, the $15 price tag comes from them, and for now I'll pass because I'm not in to any of the face molds. I know I can head swap but it would help to see her in person so I can know what shade of caucasian she comes in.

Looking forward to some board reviews when any of you get them.

Hmm, $15's not too bad. Maybe for my next birthday. (I'm trying to save for Pregnant Midge for xmas.) Also looking forward to board reviews and discussion of available skintones and matches.

I bought the brunette MtM- love her! A couple of slight rough spots at joins and edges, but not bad.

Does she wear the same size clothes as an earlier body?

Haven't had a chance to find out yet. It's a good bet that pants from any of the static bodies won't work, but anything else will have to be tried out.

Okay, I want one, but the feet are still absurd. Maybe I could bulk them up with epoxy. :]
