Curious as to which ones you ordered, and can hardly wait for possibly more pictures! I have a list of the ones picked out I'd like to get, but it'll be at least a month to save up for them.

These six:

From left to right, two petites, an orignal, two talls and a curvy.

There are five more I'd want, but they aren't available yet.

The first package should be coming Thursday, so there will be non-stock pictures forthcoming. :)

The first three Barbies I ordered arrived -- a day early even -- so I unboxed them and took some photos for you all. I apologize for not being much of a photographer. :|

Image
Here's the packaging. The tall one is practically touching both the top and bottom of the plastic.

Image
Didn't get a good shot of this, but the back of the packaging shows three guys along with all 21 stand-alone dolls currently shown on Mattel's site. (Not shown: the 12 other dolls which also come with two extra outfits each.)

Image
Here they are with the front plastic removed. Unboxing was rather tricky, as the plastic was sandwiched between two bits of cardstock in a couple places. Thus, the sheer destruction of the packaging. (I don't collect or preserve packaging myself, but if you do, be warned.) Figures were attached to the cardstock with the little plastic cord things at ankles and waist, and the head was attached with two more (with hair also held to cardstock with weak elastic in some cases).

Image
Better head shots. The petite one does not photograph well; I suspected she had the darkest skin tone of the new releases, but according to the booklet that came with my order, #20 (Fancy Flowers) may even be a shade darker.

Image
Here they are in a shot with a random Barbie picked from my existing collection; I don't know if that Barbie is representative of the typical modern Barbie body or not. The tall and curvy ones stand flat-footed; the petite still has the high-heel-style foot.

Image
Petite is almost a head shorter. I'll mention here that none of the new body types are articulated at knees, elbows, waist, etc. Also, the outfits that came with these were all easily removable, with generous expanses of hook-and-loop (except for the tall one's skirt, which has enough give to stretch over her hips).

Image
Tall, standing flat-footed, is barely half a head taller. Note that she has the least waist indent of all the dolls

Image
Curvy is about the same height, and stands flat-footed. She has a slightly bigger bust than Petite and Tall.

Rear views.

Just to add to the complications, I discovered this when I received my second order today -- unlike the first Petite I received, who had high-heel-shape feet, the second Petite is flat-footed. And unlike the first Tall I received, who had flat feet, the second Tall has high-heel-shape feet. Nothing else exceptional to note, so I won't take pictures of the new arrivals.

mattel did say Petite and original share a foot size while curvy and tall do too so i guess high heel and flat shoes should be compatible with their respective body types?

Isn't the 'petite' the same body that the Mattel Disney Princess Rapunzel, Anna, Ariel and Merida already utilized? From your pics, it looks just like their bodies. :)

But the Curvy and tall bodies are very unique and awesome!! So many possiblities now!! :)

I can confirm this -- I placed their bare feet next to each other, and Petite and original Fashionista have matching feet, as do Tall and Curvy. The Tall/Curvy foot is just a hair under an inch long and a hair over 5/16" wide at their widest point. The Petite and original Fashionista are 7/8" long and a hair under 5/16" wide at their widest point.

Sorry, I have no Disney Princess dolls to compare them to... but I'll certainly trust your judgment! :)

I'm pleasantly surprised... there's more variation in the bodies than I expected there would be. I was thinking it would be minor tweeks like the ones causing the height difference between a regular bellybutton barbie and the hobbit body. The lack of joints still makes me sad... but I'm really going to have to scrape up and get at least one of each anyway. Not all of my dolls are poseable, after all... (I have a reproduction vintage barbie, now there's a brick).

I have a vintage repro too and know where you're coming from.

If I see a curvy at the store and another head to swap I might be inclined to get one incase this is it. I'd like elbows at least so Mini Kim could be posed doing some Kim activities.
