Big Heads, Lucy, Shelf, Vintage Gals

Postby Kd_Bunchanumbers » Thu Nov 25, 2010 6:43 pm

Well, I've never been a big fan of the big head craze but hey, I picked up this MyScene at a yardsale due to it being attached to a jointed pale body. I always intended to chuck her head into a vat of Acetone and shrink her... But I got lazy so she remained blank forevers due to her crappy hair and such.

Feeling a bout of inspiration (and trying to hold in my want for a Monster High doll) I decided to try painting her and see what I can doll. I tried several styles of painting but I guess using my own style with the weird shading and highlights fits her mold.

Also I cannot tolerate her hair style if it's very long but since I'm too lazy to reroot I put her hair into a bob and now it actually suits her, so woot.

And here she is with my other big headed dolls.

I got this Lucy doll for $5 at a yardsale with an elaborate salsa style dress, so woot, go me. Course I left her costume and body in a box whilst I gave her my MyScene body.

And this is why you should never leave side glancing dolls near each other.

Well, your My Scene girl looks a lot better without the dopey, vapid looking stock face up that a lot of them seem to have. You managed to make her look good, which is no small feat, IMO.

(It's slightly possible that my negative attitude towards My Scene and some other "big head" dolls might be showing in the above comments. )

Nice work!!!! I also don't care for the 'big headed' dolls that seem to pervade all the stores nowadays!! (I don't mind as much the 'giant headed' dolls that really look 'Chibi-fied' but the ones like My Scene, the new Disney Princesses, etc, where they're just a LITTLE too large, just look odd to me!)

But your faceup really worked wonders for her! She's so pretty! Great job!

She looks good :-) Her head is about the size of the Monster High dolls, height wise.
It's great seeing all your retro folk together.
