Hujoo Phoebe Box Opening

Postby Kadyssa » Tue May 31, 2016 9:22 pm

My Phoebe got here today, so I grabbed an assistant and opened her up! I'm not sure if Nimbus was jealous or if she was just grumpy from having been in the cabinet so long.

Congrats! She's very cute.

Is sharpie ink-dying the best method for the plastic? Rit-dye won't work?

I'm not quite sure the sharpie dye is the best method, but I kind of cringed at the thought of mixing acetone in the Rit dye bath as suggested over here... At worst with a sharpie dye, my color rubs off and I've lost $4 in sharpies. Worst case scenario with Rit and acetone might melt my doll. It might take three boxes of Rit to mix to the color I want as well, unless I settle for a more tan color.

I'll post results even if the sharpie dye fails and I have to scrub her clean and do it over with Rit. :D

I didn't know you mixed acetone with the RIT dye. Seems counter-productive.

Please do post the results when you get a chance. :)

I won't have time to really post pictures for a couple of days, but for the record, normal yellow sharpie + normal brown sharpie + big black sharpie = gray/green apparently  I might dip her again to get the color less green, but I'm gonna live with it a few days first. It's already growing on me.

The black sharpie is gonna mess up your color, because black sharpie ink is not actually black. It's made of a few different colors that act funny if allowed to separate
