My Maudlynne

Postby werepuppy » Thu Jun 09, 2016 3:41 pm

So I've wanted - for quite a while now - to own a Tonner doll. I never thought it would be possible for various reasons, one of which being there aren't many stockists in the UK/European Union and customs from the US is ridiculous. However, fate was smiling on me, and I was able to win this darling from eBay. She's from the Tonner Toys label, so I guess she's not proper Tonner, but I love her all the same. She arrived a couple of days ago, and I'm just thinking now to upload and share with you all!

Maudlynne is adorable, and I'm so pleased to have her! I'm continuing to search eBay in the hopes of finding a great bargain - maybe for an Agnes Dreary (older, I know, but there's something about her face that captivates me) or an Agatha Primrose (I really like the Tech Savvy one). That's all for now! Thanks for listening to my rambles!

I remember the buzz about Maudlynne when she came out a few years ago - she was a definite love or hate kind of gal. I always thought she was cute and was disappointed when Tonner discontinued her. Glad you were able to get her!

Kirahfaye: Thank you! I have to admit, I'm never really in a position to know what the buzz is regarding Tonner or other higher label dolls, I just tend to find pictures eventually and go 'oh, that's nice'. There is something very compelling about Maudlynne's expression that just captures me. Thank you ^^

She's definitely a 'proper Tonner' so you got yourself a good deal. I think she's kinda cute but never really got into her enough to get one. Took me a long time to warm up to Patience before I finally got one. I liked the first Agatha Primrose, the 'anime' one, but it sold out too quick and I just haven't seen another to want badly enough. Tonners are pricey but they are well made and he does some beautiful sculpts.
Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD.

Aw! She is beautiful and pretty proper. Robert Tonner sculpted her himself.

I also really wish I hadn't missed Agnes when she came out. I really love how she looks in her stripey pajama outfit. Agatha is lovely too. But, I'm trying really hard not to get into another doll line.
